Greetings,

so was just wondering, if i had follow up questions or edits for a previous post would i just edit the original with the new info or start a new post? now by editing a previous post does it refresh in some manner to get traction and more interaction again (like a new post)? or does it have any weight to sort?

i seem to let some posts die because they become old, and im unsure of protocol.

Wow, that is a WALL of text, lol the Debian manual seems shorter.

However, thank you! I will read this and use it to improve my questions.

Good folks, my searchfu has failed me, ive tried different distros and no change, but want to keep debian for the htpc.

After the install, my graphics driver was not installed and i believe the wifi, not sure how to check how many didn't work. any assistance with getting this working would be appreciated.

Beelink Mini S12 Pro Mini PC, 16GB DDR4 RAM 500GB M.2 SSD
12th Intel Alder Lake-N100

use case is of course mini htpc for plex, docker, emulation etc.

usb installed debian 12 KDE

no sound except line out

Thanks for any advice in advance

IMHO by traveling. In my case I travelled a lot for work and was introduced to new places, people, and cultures (mostly micro cultures). Seeing how things are different from your local area gives perspective.

Taps on the mirror… hello me. I apologize for not having any advice about solutions, although there are lots here, but I felt like I should post and say you are definitely not alone!!! I to am here and feeling the same way and looking for better interactions.

Hold fast.

Sooo, can we not create and/or finance our own? Please be gentle…but…is there not enough of us paying for proton and other privacy apps to fund a floss or non-profit version? I mean there are tech nerds all over this place, along with law nerds and political nerds…etc..(meant with love btw) that would have an instant user base.

I pledge here to sub up to $15usd/month for any lemmy person that starts an entity that provides us with what we need with ethics and morality of lemmy common.

My wife didn’t get the joke but I found it titillating.

Can you elaborate on this a little more, sounds interesting and reinforcing?!

I’m still reading guides but my initial thoughts on OS was Debian, but am reading one using proxmox. Anything I should be aware of with proxmox?

I will read up on cockpit, nginx and the rest. Thank you for the suggestions!

I don’t have that much memory on the beelink, specs are N-100 alder lake 16gb ddr4 500gb m.2

I’ve recently been reading more about manjaro issues. I’ll prob use this time to choose a new daily driver as well, endeavor looks interesting thanks.

Great share! Will be reading this momentarily, thank you.

By average I mean, lots of folks have niche needs, while mine currently are generic, so I’m wondering what’s not necessarily the best but most common.

My plex/Emby server is currently on a qnap ts563 and does not handle transcoding well. Looking to improve that with the n100 and move away from emby to try jellyfin. I keep plex because it works and I share servers with friends, but I’m curious about jellyfin.

My daily driver is not going to be part of the new setup. It’s and older frankenbuilt pc with manjaro. If anyone has interesting ideas for the nas besides holding my media please do.

I think a docker system would be best but any suggestions that encompass all this would be great. If I’m being vague it’s because I’ve always just copy pasted and read guides. I’m not as knowledgeable as I’d like to be yet.

Greetings, so I final got wife permission to buy a pi zero 2 and a beeline 12s pro (n100) arriving tomorrow. I already have a nas drive for my media.

Question is what is the average setup and guides for this?

Of course I will be scouring this and other communities for info but the immediate items I want to fix are my plex/jellyfin server, setup RetroArch or equivalent gaming, then of course arr servers. But I would like to also get into reverse proxy and searxng, next cloud and pihole.

Any tips on how to make this beautiful?

OS recommendations? I currently run manjaro on my daily, but would think a kubuntu or kde fedora/debian spin might be better for these items.

Guides you can point me to? Suggestions for more or better options? There are plenty of answers in this community and I will look at what’s posted but any assistance is appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

I’m excited to start plying with the simple things

Please stop with justifying things that are terrible for people and the world. If these items are needed for people with disabilities, you don’t take a natural container, remove it and cover it in plastic. The solution would be to create something that is created once and does the job required indefinitely.

Just got an itch to play lemmings-esque games on my tablet. Trying to convert things I do and like to foss versions.

What would be a good game(s) for Lemmy users to start a group and play? I get people like different things, but it should be FOSS or free and accessible to anyone on Lemmy.

In short, something fun, MULTIPLAYER , and approachable for all ages. Not AAA or fees, and needs to be casual.

Possible to form a Lemmy group and pick a few games to rotate.

Respond with creative ideas and suggestions.

If for some reason you think this is a terrible idea please express it with an explanation, so it can be remedied rather than dismissed.

Just chilling and sharing a stream of thought..

So how would a credibility system work and be implemented. What I envision is something similar to the up votes..

You have a credibility score, it starts a 0 neutral. You post something People don’t vote on if they like, the votes are for “good faith”

Good faith is You posted according to rules and started a discussion You argued in good faith and can separate with opposing opinions You clarified a topic for someone If someone has a polar opinion to yours and is being down voted because people don’t understand the system Etc.

It is tied to the user not the post

Good, bad, indifferent…?

Perfect the system

Greetings, I am looking for a epub/pdf reader similar to Marvin 3, that I can connect to my calibre server. It appears my Marvin was offloaded and it is no longer available. Would prefer free of course but don’t mind paying for a good app…no subscription. Foss would be great. Any other suggestions are welcome.

so title, as in if you had 50 acres and planted trees, fixed ponds and water ways, etc. would this allow more humidity, promote snow...? like a micro climate?
