What happened was that the Raccoon project got taken down on GitHub after the original developer’s career was taking a hit due to how the app was being received. However the community got together and saved an earlier version and continued their wonderful work.

There are two Raccoon apps one for Lemmy and the other for Friendica.

I love how Tesseract has the automatic conversion to webp option when posting.

I tested converting my png profile picture on mastodon and the size went down from 350 kb to 70 kb.
