A short story about Operation LuigiX
San Casiano – Italy – June 2028
“I’ll send you the results of the first fertility implants tomorrow. Good-bye, Donald.”
L1 folded down the screen of his laptop and let out a long sigh. Even at the edge of his pool, one foot in the water, he was dying of heat in his bulletproof vest. Elon Musk officially changed his name to L1 X at the end of 2025, just after reading this short story. Both this name and the story amused him a lot, at the time.
L1 put his sunglasses back on. The sun’s rays, already low on the horizon, dazzled him as they reflected onto the eight-meter-high wall of tempered glass that surrounded his property, without spoiling the view of the Italian Alps.
L1 was living alone in the immense chalet he’d had built in San Casiano. Almost alone… a dozen servants and a score of bodyguards assisted him on a daily basis and kept the premises secure.
L1 had initially categorically refused this safety measures. Fear was a totally foreign feeling to him. His sociopathy, combined with his regular consumption of cocaine and ketamine, had reinforced his absolute self-confidence: he believed in himself and his destiny with a fervor that no priest had ever felt for any God. He was the reason for the universe’s existence, the climax of animal evolution, and the ultimate source of a new, perfect, augmented form of humanity. He was the richest and most powerful man in history. He would be the first man to go to Mars, he would die there and his consciousness would be uploaded to the Cloud, thanks to the NeuraLink implant, for all eternity. He would become a super-powered AI who would rule this new humanity forever. He knew it, it was written.
And indeed, on the face of it, his plans were going well. Since the American-Russian agreements, the open conflict with Canada and the European Union’s rapprochement with China, the new Cold War had filled the order books of SpaceX’s military division. SpaceX’s share value soared, doubling his personal fortune to over $600 billion. All this despite Tesla’s bankruptcy in December 2025. Record profits enabled SpaceX to finance the Mars program, which was progressing rapidly.
On the Neuralink side too, business was booming. By 2026, the pro-life lobby had obtained the death penalty for all clandestine abortions, even by underage girls. At the same time, the CDC medical agency, now entirely under DOGE control, had published numerous fraudulent studies, highlighting rare genetic diseases supposedly caused by mixed-race unions. On this “scientific” basis, a decree now prohibited all sexual relations between “incompatible” individuals. Every citizen had a genetic identity card. A state application, integrated into all dating applications, made it possible to check a couple’s “genetic compatibility”.
However, the MAGA regime wanted to go even further: in order to enforce these laws and boost the American birth rate, the government commissioned Neuralink to make a chip that would be injected into every teenage girl on her 16th birthday. The chip served three purposes:
- to notify the central government of all fertilizations and terminations of pregnancy, whether voluntary or involuntary
- to check, in real time, the compatibility of a potential partner
- to control women’s fertility by modulating their hormones in real time
This was the project L1 and Donald Trump were working on. The videoconference they had just completed set out the commercial terms of this collaboration. Once again, the contracts were massive, enabling L1 to finance research into transferring consciousness into the cloud.
This program was the cornerstone of a larger, barely-secret project to de-breed and statistically eugenicize the American population. Armies of young data scientists, hired in every American institution, fed statistical data into the AIs. In return, these AIs generated tailor-made, seemingly universal recommendations, which benefited white populations and increasingly burdened the country’s minorities.
The government was able to monitor the terrifying effectiveness of this project via the now confidential economic and health statistics: the birth rate among ethnic minorities was plummeting. The suicide rate among LBGTs, persecuted and assaulted, was exploding. Life expectancy for blacks and Hispanics, most of whom could no longer afford medical care, dropped below 65.
L1 was delighted with this “technical purification”. In his sick brain, anything that deviated from the perfection of its own being was an anomaly that had to be corrected. The new human would be white, male, heterosexual and augmented. Only those populations would survive that could serve his glory and emancipation.
At first, this openly fascist project proceeded with remarkable ease, facing little or no opposition. In the first months of its mandate, the MAGA regime had locked up all counter-powers. It reformed the constitution to control the judiciary, and dissolved and banned all forms of trade union. It had cancelled the mid-term elections. Any group organizing or protesting against the regime was labeled a terrorist group and severely repressed, up to and including the death penalty.
Most of the mass media were pro-regime. There remained a handful of minor opposition media, whose reach was totally limited by the algorithms of the social networks (X and Meta), entirely controlled by MAGA. The regime left them alone in order to maintain, for a while, the illusion of plurality.
The international press was timid in its protests. The extreme geopolitical tension raised fears of nuclear conflict at the slightest slip-up. In 2027, a Mexican migrant managed to escape from the Guantanamo concentration camp and took refuge in Colombia. He revealed inhumane detention conditions and the existence of mass graves, with videos to back up his story. South America, Europe and Canada had publicly denounced these horrors, but had not decided on any concrete reprisal measures.
However, the regime’s confidential polls soon revealed the collapse of Trump’s popularity, which fell below 30% in July 2027. In addition to the traditional Democratic camp, there were now increasing numbers of people whose lives had been touched by measures as absurd as they were violent :
- Thousands of farmers in bankruptcy after the cancellation of USAID orders
- The most vulnerable populations, suffocated by galloping inflation and the arbitrary new customs taxes that appeared regularly
- Families mourning the soaring number of deaths from diseases easily cured or eradicated elsewhere in the West (measles, asthma, pediatric cancers, smallpox, etc.)
- Texans who lost everything during the fires that ravaged Austin after the drought of summer 2026
- …
Operation LuigiX was launched in January 2027. Was it the result of one of these internal oppositions, or the work of an enemy foreign power? Even the MAGA intelligence services, with their unlimited resources and the best hackers in the country, were unable to answer this question.
The operation was first launched on the darkweb as luigix.onion, and was soon relayed to mirror sites hosted in China, Europe and Canada.
The site was clean and simple. A single, white page displayed the following text:
“What would you do if you could go back to 1930 and kill Hitler? Now’s your chance. Take part in this decentralized ransom to eliminate L1 X.”
Underneath, a single field contained the address of an Ethereum wallet: a decentralized blockchain guaranteeing anonymity. This wallet was special. It did not belong to an anonymous individual or organization, but was linked to a virtual smart-contract. The algorithm of this “smart-contract” was public and could be checked by anyone.
LuigiX was working like a giant lottery: anyone could anonymously lock in the amount of their choice to the ransom. Anyone could link this donation to a bet on the date of L1 X’s death and on the text that would be engraved on the bullet that would take his life.
This modus operandi would allow the resistance fighter who would kill L1 X to be authenticated and paid with absolute certainty. It was inspired by the murder of CEO Brian Thompson by Luigi Mangione in 2024. Luigi had engraved the words “Deny, Defend, Depose” on the bullets, confirming his motive and targeting private health insurance companies.
Every day, the Ethereum blockchain would execute the algorithm for this smart-contract, in a decentralized way and without human intervention. The Wikipedia page of L1 X was chosen as the source of truth: an “Oracle” in cryptocurrency jargon, replacing the need for a bailiff. No company nor centralized entity could control this process.
If L1 had been murdered the day before, and the inscription on the bullet matched one of the earlier bets, the entire ransom would be paid back to the wallet associated with that bet.
It was indeed Wikipedia, indirectly, that made Operation LuigiX possible. This detail was driving L1 mad: he hated this project more than anything. He had tried several times to buy or destroy Wikipedia. It was one of mankind’s greatest achievements; a monument to collaboration, erected by the glory of collective intelligence, without profit, without capitalist heroes, without interest other than the voluntary and exhaustive compilation of all human knowledge. Wikipedia was the memory of our civilization, a foundation of shared knowledge, a consensus enabling us to build a society.
In order to establish his new humanity, L1 needed to destroy Wikipedia and everything it represented. He needed to erase the history of past attempts at eugenics. He needed to weaken the success of collective endeavors in favor of the myth of the triumphant individual. He had to replace consensus with permanent lies, dialogue with invective and insult. The information space had to become a shrieking, chaotic ring on which no society could build without the help of an all-powerful leader. This was the ultimate goal of his propaganda tool X, which he tried in vain to impose as a source of truth, in place of the Wikipedia agora.
The success of Operation LuigiX had been dazzling. The ransom had first grown organically, certainly fueled by individual donations from opponents of the regime, before leaping into the millions of dollars, undoubtedly from enemy states or industrial competitors. A significant proportion of the payments were made in $DOGE and $TRUMP: two “meme-coins” pushed and manipulated by L1 and Donald Trump, which had enabled them to enrich themselves even further while ruining a few thousand families in the process.
By June 2028, the ransom had reached the astronomical amount of $315 million.
The first assassination attempts were carried out by lone wolves and amateurs, and were easily thwarted. But the regime’s security services were soon overwhelmed. They were now dealing with over-trained and over-equipped mercenary units.
LuigiX ransoms had multiplied and were now targeting all the heads of the regime, including Donald Trump.
In August 2027, Trump came very close to death. A commando had managed to infiltrate the backstage area of a meeting and hit the dictator in the lower spinal cord. Trump was now paralyzed and was only able to move around thanks to an exoskeleton developed specifically for him by SpaceX.
Since this event, security measures had been tightened: none of the regime’s leaders was allowed out anymore. They were all kept reclusive in their respective mansions, which had been transformed into fortresses. L1’s chalet, still under construction at the time, had been completed in a hurry and equipped with an arsenal of military security.
Paradoxically, even if LuigiX’s colossal ransom represented only 0.5% of L1’s fortune, it was of no use to him. He could probably convince one, two or ten teams to give up their hunt in exchange for twice the amount, but not all of them. The race was doomed.
L1 had obviously tried to use his children as human shields, but none of the former partners and mothers of his 15 children had agreed to give him custody of any of the children.
Despite all this, L1 remained serene and confident in his destiny. Every challenge made him more powerful, and contributed to the superhero image he nurtured among his fans. Trump’s exoskeleton marked a blatant advance in transhumanism and yet another victory for technology over death. Everything was written.
L1 got up from his deckchair and stretched out, facing the mountain and his pool.
First there was a flash of intense light that dazzled L1 despite his glasses, followed by a violent bang that echoed off the side of the surrounding cliffs.
L1 leapt up and turned around. Two meters above him, a warhead as tall as a man floated in the air, held in balance by the thrust of three mini-propellants that radiated intense light and heat. This supersonic missile had easily passed through the laser anti-drone devices on the glass walls. These were designed for the fastest propeller-driven drones and only fired upwards. As LuigiX’s modus operandi called for assassination by bullets, the security services had not installed any anti-missile devices.
Dozens of soldiers instantly appeared from every corner of the chalet. They opened fire on the warhead, showering it with bullets. The device hardly moved. After each impact, it instantly returned to its initial position. Its thrusters coordinated perfectly to stabilize it, recalling the prowess of SpaceX’s boosters. There’s was a good reason for this: the hackers on the resistance team had hacked into SpaceX’s servers a year earlier. The code that managed the missile’s inertial unit was the same as that used to return SpaceX’s thrusters back to earth.
The top of the missile opened. A nine-millimeter articulated barrel emerged and aimed at L1’s head.
L1’s face contorted into an unprecedented grin. It wasn’t really fear, more a form of extreme disbelief. This couldn’t be happening. It had all been written.
This grimace didn’t disturb the missile’s facial recognition module, trained on thousands of images of L1 generated by Grok, X’s unfiltered AI.
The missile fired a single bullet that hit L1 in the head. His lifeless body fell into the pool.
The next day, the smart-contract executed once again. It checked the Wikipedia page confirming L1 X’s death. The 315 million dollars were instantly transferred to the only wallet that had correctly predicted the text engraved on the bullet:
“Your implant for eternity”

May American citizens, guardians of the memory of the Founding Fathers and their Constitution, join together to resist, in every possible way, the oligarchy that has seized the land of the free and is now trying to impose fascism on it.
