There is. It's the original development team of the project.

This repo has contributions by 111 different developers at the moment.

All to the same first-party SyncThing repo.

Yeah that's the thing. I can't be dependent on such a thing that very well might stop functioning at any time. The fact that it's not first-party does not fill me with confidence.

The vast majority of people uploading to YT aren't (or weren't) looking to make money. They didn't even used to pay you anything. People make videos because they're creators and they like sharing things with the world.

Aside from that YT only has 1 more revenue method than any other platform. There are a dozen other ways to monetize their content.
