I'm saying if you don't have a way to get self worth from yourself then you will be stuck dependent on your partner, and they will not always be able to provide that. It's a skill that you need to be in a functional relationship.

Allow me to paint a picture:

In your heart, you’ve got a little cup full of love. Sounds like yours is running on fumes.

Your hope is that someone else will fill this cup for you. But I’m saying you need to learn to fill it yourself first. Why?

Because love isn’t a free refill station—it’s an exchange. We trade sips from one another’s heart cups. Some people need a big sip. Some barely need any at all. Must be nice… 😒

So if you meet someone with a big, full cup, ready to share—what do you have to give them? If you don’t know how to refill your own, that love becomes a finite resource. Your partner pours into you, but you have nothing to pour back. And eventually, that drains them. It doesn’t lead to happiness—it leads to burnout, imbalance, and a slow spiral back to despair.

This is why you need a source from within. Not because love doesn’t exist. But because the best love is shared, not depended on.

No. You can learn to love yourself when you're depressed. The two are not mutually exclusive.

There’s nuance to the idea that you need to love yourself before loving someone else.

At its core, it means this: Nobody is responsible for your happiness but you.

When someone lacks self-love and enters a relationship, they often rely on their partner as their source of self-worth. This isn’t just unfair—it’s unsustainable and often leads to heartbreak.

To put it another way, you need to fill your own cup. You can’t walk around empty, expecting someone else to keep pouring into you indefinitely. That’s not their job, and trying to take it on is exhausting, leading to burnout and relationship failure.

The truth is, you have to learn how to be happy alone. A relationship isn’t about making each other happy; it’s about supporting and loving one another in a way that fosters self-love, allowing both people to grow into their fullest potential.

As far as I understand the second amendment, any unmarked ice officer walking up on people in castle doctrine states are like, very legitimate results of the 2a. Especially right now. Super reasonable.

What're you rich?

Eating McDonald's for 3 meals a day every day would be between $5k and $15k per year.

Cash.

So, that would represent about $10k-$30k of your pre-taxed Income

"Heil" translates to "Hail", and these folks are -- believe it or not -- not German.

Thousands of exhibits showing how sundials work, or how any other non-clock time-keeping mechanisms work, would immediately reveal something is amiss.

The number of people that would set their microwave timer for 1 minute at that exact moment and see that it finished and see that it was 2 minutes later would be significant.

The number of text conversations where people send half sentences constantly, time logs.

Any chatrooms chat logs. Just all suddenly missing a minute. During heated debates.

There are so many non-clock related instances of time tracking that exist within rigid time frames, globally...

Youd have dozens of social media posts showing the same anomaly. At the same time.

I give it ~3-4 hours before it is trending globally, maximum.

A bakery in Conway NH is suing the town after being told their mural violates advertising signage laws. It seems the sign just has pastries and doesn't otherwise advertise the business, so they're calling it art and arguing it should stay. The town disagrees so they're going to court over it.

The bakery is suing the town for $1, and permission to keep the kids mural up.

This is a small business fighting to keep kids art on display. Suing for $1 is a way to signal that are willing to do this at a financial loss, and that the display isn't a means of enriching themselves but rather their community.

I'm approaching 40. I've been all over the internet my whole life. Mostly a metal head. I love me my prog rock. I love my folk, and a little indie here and there.

I won't give away too much, but if you know where I know this music from, give me a shout. I'm sure some of y'all are out tofu aware out there.

Pete Davis never got the fame he deserves in this genre. Maybe Foss platforms can give a hum le ho ie a signal boost. This is his most popular track with a band from cages ago, but peep his shit. He deserves it.

The bottom of the page there is a countdown that will expire at midnight Eastern standard Time tonight.

This company claims to be in Boston. They've received federal grants. I've done a small amount of digging, but it would be entirely within valves resources to set up such a company. They have a LinkedIn, but it doesn't really seem like anyone really works there? It seems like a viral marketing campaign.

There was a Reddit thread. A while back. Some people noticed classes in the HTML that referenced other half-lifey things. But, some people in that thread shut it down as nothing out of the ordinary.

Then, there have been recent leaks with regard to a new game being developed. Someone found a resume suggesting that a person had done voice-over work for an unreleased project with Valve in 2023.

There was also a leak of some files with .hlx file types, and I guess prior to the half-life alyx release some .hla files leaked.

In the .hlx file leak, I guess there was found references to things like the EV suit.

Here's a YouTube video that touches on all of this.

Acceptable range of answers:

"I mix mustard with mayo"

to

"I emulsify a blend of herbs and mustard seeds and chilis in clarified butter to make and herbaceous fatty hot spread"

Bonus: what's it best on?

This is an appreciation thread. All 4 games are iconic to me. Way underrated.

To me, midnight club is everything need for speed wanted to be. Need for speed had a few hits and many misses. Midnight club was 100% hits. And they aged incredibly. They're still fun as hell.

If you never played and you dig arcade racing games, go play. It's an open city racing game. Variety of racing types, endless challenges, and really great mechanicsi just wish it was as.pophlar as it deserves to be.

Im on a galaxy s22+. This started happening the same time the upvotes downvote buttons started to glitch in the UI which I have also posted about.

This issue is more annoying. When I am mid response, I'll often leave the app to get more accurate info in what I'm trying to say. When I come back to Lemmy, it's all black. Nothing. But my button presses are still registering.

If I go to the app switcher (bottom left android button) thing, and reselect Lemmy, it fixes and the display returns.

But if I react by pressing the back button, I lose my response, I lose the post I was responding to, I sometimes can't even relocate the thread I was in easily.

I need to hit the upvotes and downvote buttons twice on the main page.

It will flash it's color as I press on press 1, but then quickly revert. On second press, it behaves normally.

This guy was something special. Not too many prodigies can improv like Tom Brier. Someone posted Nyan cat the other day and it reminded me of the incredible body of his work.

This guys relative made this YouTube channel when he realized Tom could play anything and turn it into a full length song ad libertum, AND that he was incredibly out of touch with pop culture. Most of the time he is completely unfamiliar with the song being presented to him. You can tell how much he enjoyed this song by his enthusiastic laugh at the end 😊

Guy sadly was in a bad car accident in 2016, and can no longer play. These videos just make me cry now, but God damn does this mean deserve keep being found and revered.
