Not OP, but IME the breading tends to fall off when they're chopped and moved around a bunch, but if you mix sliced air fried ones in at the very end that'd probably turn out pretty well.

Yeah! Those nuggets are my go to quick protein snack. And cholesterol free, to boot.

BRB, gonna make some nuggets now...

Awesome response, and a great succinct postmortem. Thanks for doing what you do!

If done via hacked admin credentials, this is a great advertisement for enabling 2FA anywhere it's supported. AIUI Lemmy is also getting support for this for user accounts soon (https://github.com/LemmyNet/lemmy/issues/2363)

Thanks, I appreciate it - looks like I've got some bedtime reading for awhile :)

This is interesting and something I've not heard of - can you recommend a starter link for someone with a basic stats background? I had some in undergrad, but this sounds like a topic that could get very tinfoil-hat-y if not searched correctly and with good context.

You've done awesome with this instance. It's great to hear you're taking a break and paying attention to burnout - it's not all on you, so take the time you need to center yourself and get your mojo back. We'll be waiting, but not in the creepy or stressful way hopefully ^^

I for one welcome the long furby renaissance.

Also omitted - the amount of speculative buying for planned capacity that never actually happens. I worked for one of the big tech companies for several years, and more specialized hardware especially (ML accelerators) were spun up with the notion of "we don't know who will need these, but we don't want to not have them if they're needed". Cue massive amounts of expensive hardware sitting plugged in and idle for months as dev teams scramble to adopt their stuff to new hardware that has just enough difference in behavior and requirements as to make it hard to migrate over.

Also also, there's a bunch of "when in doubt, throw it out" - automated systems detecting hardware failure that automatically decommission it after a couple strikes. False positive signals were common, so a lot gets thrown out despite being perfectly fine.

Good to know, thanks! I'll try to get a bit more airflow where it's set up.

I DIY'd a hydroponic tower, and I suspect not having grow lights made it more likely for mold to grow (and less likely for tasty greens).

I'm installing some grow lights and will do a deep clean, but do y'all think the current crop is edible? There's no mold on the plants, only in the coconut coir...

It's from a spool I bought a few years ago - but I do have a project involving a heat gun strapped to a leaf blower that I'll be sharing once it's a bit further along :D

What a nice duck! Lemmy absolutely needs more duck pics :)

Hi everyone! Figured I'd introduce myself to the community by posting a thing I just made this morning.

I needed to cut 2" thick memory foam for some cushions I was making for my wife - using scissors felt awkward, so I grabbed some nichrome wire and ceramic insulators from a different project, and hooked them up to a variac to control the heat.

I was sure to connect earth ground to the stainless steel wire support and to the table to ensure it was safe-ish. All in all, not a bad result for an hour of side questing.

Finished cushion next to one of the backing plywood pieces:
