If the legal consequences are minimal, then it encourages future actions by others or at least supports the semi-unspoken threat that it is likely to happen again if the ruling class keeps fucking around.

We have many options for people who just want to drink a bunch of cheap beer. Bud Light, Miller Light, Coors Light, Natural Light, Milwaukee's Best Light, the list goes on. Most agree the stuff you can buy in a 24 pack at Walmart isn't good quality beer.
But places like Dogfish Head, Ardent, Foothills, Bell's, Cigar City, Oskar Blues, Three Notched, Flying Dog, Elysian, Anchor, Lagunitas and many others produce some great beers.
My cousin said the exact same thing.

I used to not have to check my bank account. Now my savings account is slowly shrinking. And it's almost entirely because of the cost of food.
Inflation sent me from adding to savings each month to pulling from it instead. Just hope my wife or I get a decent promotion before the savings run out I guess.

Barry Goldwater, Richard Nixon, Ronald Reagan, Newt Gingerich, Mitch McConnell, and now Trump (and arguably many others along the way) have been choosing self over country and intentionally breaking safeguards for longer than most of us on Lemmy have been alive. It's indirect violence. But it's violence regardless. And they've gotten away with it so far.
