I just don’t feel comfortable bringing a gun into my house. I don’t think I stand a chance against 10 automatic-wielding ICE agents.

When the law break in How you gonna go? Shot down on the pavement Or waiting in death row

You can crush us, you can bruise us.

You would be surprised how comically inept most LEOs are. They are regular people too. Take your chances.

[–] Doorbook@lemmy.world 10 points 1 week ago

I will take my chance of stand off and quick death over being in prison in another state with no future.

[–] Anomalocaris@lemm.ee 7 points 1 week ago (1 children)

that will just give them an excuse to murder you immediately, and then the right to murder anyone immediately.

although I'm not sure what else can be done, without saying anything illegal that might get me in an FBI watchlist and give me expedited tickets to a free vacation in el Salvador

I’m just incredulous that anyone here believes they have a chance against a militarized police and immigration force. Feels very much like when the right pretended they could defend themselves against the government “taking their guns.” 99% of civilians, gun owners or not, have no chance.

If you're talking about organized resistance, the police can be greatly outnumbered. Mostly unarmed people took over a precinct during BLM protests.

If talking about defending yourself in your home, I'd rather die quickly at home than at a prison that tortures people. Hell, I'd rather die than spend 20+ years in a regular US prison.

The goal is not to take out the entirety of ICE yourself. The goal is if they come for you to go down fighting and hope to take at least one. The only other option is to go peacefully and be shipped to an El Salvadorian gulag. Where you'll probably die anyway.

Better to die trying imo

[–] zbyte64@awful.systems 0 points 1 week ago

If you really thought this you wouldn't wait. You would ambush them so that you can take more out. Y'all are just larping.

[–] Formfiller@lemmy.world 6 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

What’s the alternative? At a certain point it’s fight back or lay down and die. These are literally Nazis. We’re in a bad situation

[–] AngryCommieKender@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago

The point isn't to take out all of ICE. The point is that if they come for you, you are already dead. Your body just hasn't stopped moving yet. Cops have shit aiming skills. If you open your door with a Molotov Cocktail and a shotgun, you are taking the quick death, and giving the ones you don't kill and maim a real and present danger for every single time they follow illegal orders. If you just go peacefully, you're the only one that is gonna die, and you are going to die as a slave in an El Salvadorian prison.

[–] blakenong@lemmings.world 5 points 1 week ago (1 children)

You don’t. You’re supposed to kill as many as you can before they take you out. You’re dead either way.

Then you can learn to fly drones. You might stand a chance against a combat helicopter with a good drone. :) And if things don't hit the fan, you just have a nice and peaceful hobby. :)

[–] silence7@slrpnk.net 2 points 1 week ago (1 children)

What kind of cargo release do you recommend for water balloons?

[–] perestroika@lemm.ee 1 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

What I'm about to describe is my drone's parachute release system. :)

To release something soft, you would typically have a concave surface or channel on the underside of the drone. Like a bowl upside down, or a pipe cut in half into U-shape and placed upside down. Obviously, for a water balloon - no sharp bits allowed. A parachute requires a wide strap to hold it, tensioned with rubber or made of rubber. Since a balloon is elastic, I think a balloon could do with an inelastic strap.

Anyway, the strap would end at some distance with a solid endpiece, the purpose of which is to distribute load. It might be triangular, circular, anything. The endpiece would end with a loop of string. The loop of string would go though a hole in a holding surface (don't pull knots through a hole, they can get stuck). On the other side of the holding surface, a pin bent of wire would lock the loop of string. Tension and a slight bend in the pin would ensure it won't come loose with vibration. Once a servo pulls the pin out of the loop, the weight of the object being released (or the elastic force of rubber) would pull the loop of string out through the surface. The strap would come loose and the object would drop out of its upside down bowl or channel, releasing the parachute (or balloon).

However, this is just one out of dozens of possibilities. It's relatively beginner-friendly however, hard to get wrong.

Don't have to get them all by yourself. If everyone they try to arrest gets just one of them they will run out of men a lot faster than they will arrest everyone they want to get rid of. There are way way way way more of us than there are of them if we would get off our asses and stand up for each other and ourselves.

[–] barneypiccolo@lemm.ee 1 points 1 week ago

Without a gun, you also don't stand a chance.

But what if it isn't a bunch of "legal" authorities? When this all kicks off, which is looking more and more likely, you wont have to worry as much about the authorities, who will already have their hands full, you have to worry about your local MAGA Morons, who will realize that their long-held fantasy of a a Liberal Purge is finally upon them.

All they have to do is look up the voting registrations on their county's website, and they can easily put together a hit list of Libz in their own neighborhood, and go house to house, doing their duty to their MAGA Nazi leaders, knowing they will be praised as patriots for their murder spree.

That's who you have to worry about. If you can plug one before he gets you, then you can take HIS guns and ammo, and start building your own arsenal.
