Well if she wanted me then she'd magically appear in my Living Room and ask me out, obviously.

[–] Asafum@feddit.nl 33 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Seriously! Everyone I know tells me "it just kinda happened, she just showed up one day and we hit it off."

No one is just showing up in my living room, I'm almost 40 already! I call b.s!

:P

I had a cute girl knock on my door once and come into my apartment. She then tried to get me to join some weird cult she was in and I had trouble getting her to leave.

I used to like this girl on my bus in 7th grade who lived in my neighborhood. I remember working on our family garden and thinking wouldn’t it be great if the girl biked over here and saw how hard I work.

Like this girl who barely knew me would randomly decide to visit my home when I happened to be working in the garden.

Unreal.

I was a always-home person and I was obviously mostly single. Then I decided to go to a foreign country to learn a language. My father mocked me by saying I will bring a girl back home. But I didn't bring back a girl... As she stayed there at the time... But we are planning on getting married...

So many people are single because they just stay at home.

Also if you want to find someone, love yourself first and don't hunt for a partner. Just engage in social settings in your limited free time.

Also, don't just go out in a social setting if you want to meet prospective dates. Go out in a social setting with a healthy amount of people in your dating pool.

I have some social hobbies but they tend to be mostly filled with older people and/or tons of other dudes. Kinda hard to meet a lady my age with that

~Waiting for my T-800~

Dad: “Be yourself… in front of other people.”

Kid: “Oh.”

So, instead of just playing video games by myself, I should do a livestream?

Damn, those are long hours. How many free days do you have in a week?

[–] zerozaku@lemmy.world 7 points 2 weeks ago

Damn your schedule and mine are almost same.

I'm not saying this doesn't suck, but

"commute", if public transport, is 2 hours to be on dating apps (or to say hi to people if you're so bold), "bathe" is 1 hour, "get in bed" is probably 30 mins. So 3:30h daily in your specific example to possibly be on dating apps.

But apart from that... I live alone, and daily chores are 0-5min. Making and eating food is 20min. 1h Bathing you don't need every day, 10min shower is fine. How can you take 1h to go to bed, takes 5 mins for me. That would theoretically free 3:20h for relationships, which is fine each day.

[–] DeviantOvary@lemmy.world 9 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

I can only speak for the bedtime, but for some of us, it sucks. My partner can fall alseep within a few minutes. For me it can take anywhere from 10 minutes to a couple of hours, even if I'm absolutely exhausted. So one hour doesn't sound wild.

[–] Azzu@lemm.ee 1 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

I'm not disagreeing there. I would have ranked that under the "sleeping" point, I thought "going to bed" was other rituals people do, undressing, removing makeup, brushing teeth, reading part of a good book, etc.

2 hours to be on dating apps

Euagh

[–] Azzu@lemm.ee 1 points 2 weeks ago

I mean that's what this post is about right? There are ways to connect with people, however it's "euagh" to do them. Completely understandable.

[–] Amanduh@lemm.ee 6 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Why does it take 2 whole hours to eat and get in bed?

[–] MonkRome@lemmy.world 7 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (2 children)

It takes way more than an hour if you are actually cooking your own food. Cook, eat, cleanup. 1.5 hours minimum, often more.

[–] dunz@feddit.nu 1 points 2 weeks ago

Depends on what you're making. I can make a nice Ham and mushroom pasta in like 20 minutes, cleanup included

[–] Amanduh@lemm.ee 1 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Meal prep is a thing, getting take out saves a lot of time especially if you are looking for wiggle room in your schedule to go out and be social.

Seems like there are a lot of simple obvious solutions to the issue here.

[–] MonkRome@lemmy.world 11 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (1 children)

I'm married and 41, I'm just pointing out the real time needed. If you are actually trying to be healthy, and not just shoveling extra sugar and saturated/trans fats down your throat, then often the best choice is to cook your own food. Restaurants almost all prioritize taste, cost, and efficiency over health. Our society makes it difficult to stay healthy. So doing things while also staying, healthy is time consuming.

Edit: Also getting takeout still takes time, order, wait, pickup, eat, cleanup, you're still down at least an hour unless you get fast food.

[–] Amanduh@lemm.ee 1 points 2 weeks ago

Bros complaining about having no time. I'm just suggesting ways to claw a little back

[–] dunz@feddit.nu 0 points 2 weeks ago

Maybe don't work 10.5 hour days? And don't take a bath for an hour every night. Also, no way you've got chores for AN HOUR every night

[–] Lost_My_Mind@lemmy.world 9 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Well......cheeto dust obviously! Nobody wants to kiss something the color of trump's ass.

But cheeto dust makes the kiss taste good.

[–] Sam_Bass@lemmy.world 6 points 2 weeks ago

Gotta be yourself somewhere else
