Looking at the figures, I could not imagine a bigger "shooting in the foot" moment than that.

Trade wars are bad economics disguised as patriotism.

Oh god no!

The three major indexes in the US sank after Trump's comments. The Dow Jones Industrial Average ended the day down 1.4%, the S&P 500 sank 1.75% and the Nasdaq fell 2.6%.

Chicken change. Give the market some time to really sink. It's coming.

I don't want the depression, but I wouldn't mind seeing bankers and stock traders jumping from skyscrapers.

[–] xzot746@sh.itjust.works 13 points 10 hours ago

Oh the government will find money to help the bankers.

[–] werefreeatlast@lemmy.world 4 points 9 hours ago

I'm just glad we all saved Gaza by refusing to vote for Harris!

[–] yankfreelive@lemmy.cafe -2 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

Will you copy-paste this shit everywhere? AHAHAHAH

I’m so glad we saved Gaza by not voting for Harris. Great job, everyone!

[–] eugenevdebs@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

Seriously, dude stopped posting for months and turned back on their account just to shit on the lives of bombed people of Gaza. And they call us heartless.

[–] Tja@programming.dev 1 points 2 hours ago

Not heartless, dumb. We call people who refused to vote for Harris because of Gaza, "dumb".

[–] NotSteve_@lemmy.ca 28 points 15 hours ago

I think Canada could win in the long run if we use this as a wake up call to really divest from the USA tbh

[–] ReallyActuallyFrankenstein@lemmynsfw.com 30 points 16 hours ago (2 children)

Someone is winning, but it ain't us.

[–] wirebeads@lemmy.ca 42 points 16 hours ago

It’s Russia. Russia’s winning at the expense of everyone thanks to Trump and elons fascist maga morons.

America is fucking gross.

[–] ininewcrow@lemmy.ca 9 points 15 hours ago

Thanks to a singer song writer named Jesse Welles .... this made me think of a new saying

"There ain't no you in the United States"

Jesse's original lyric was ... "there ain't no you in united health care"

[–] dance_ninja@lemmy.world 4 points 14 hours ago

It's not winning, it's about "the libs" losing -- and that's enough for them.

The winning-est we'll ever be ever again.

[–] shoulderoforion@fedia.io 27 points 16 hours ago

[–] LemmyTryThisAgain@lemmy.world 10 points 13 hours ago
