I actually accidentally did this at school way back when. My mate and I decided to have an "Excel" race, where we'd start at the top of the sheet and see who could reach the bottom first by holding down either down arrow or pg down (this is obviously fun when you're 15).

Anyway, I reach the bottom, many laughs are had, go back the top, continue with whatever bullshit assignment we'd been given and then sent it off to the printer. Went onto some top down mini golf flash game and pissed about on there for a bit, until the teacher stands next to me and slams down a massive pile of paper onto my desk. She didn't look impressed.

Turns out I must have put a space or some random character at the bottom by accident and printed it. However the biggest issue was that I'd put my name in the header for the sheet, so every single page had my name in the top corner.

Just tested. It's Ctrl+right, not Ctrl+left.

Edit: also, no-one says that the cell size has to remain default. 34 million pages is rookie numbers.

Rather than changing the cell size, just send 3 or 4 copies to the printer. Way faster

[–] taiyang@lemmy.world 12 points 2 days ago (1 children)

It'd have to be a bit more than 3 or 4 since you're likely increasing exponentially by increasing the size and cells can get big.

[–] brown567@sh.itjust.works 18 points 2 days ago (1 children)

No, an increase in cell size would increase page count multiplicatively. Cells twice as tall would print the same amount as printing twice

[–] taiyang@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I was thinking in length and height, of course. Doubling both quadruples pages, and that's assuming you stop at twice the size.

[–] affiliate@lemmy.world 26 points 2 days ago (1 children)

☝️🤓 that would still only be a quadratic rate of increase, not an exponential rate of increase

Make it so the printer prints a copy of itself every other print.

My 3D printer printer prints only printers now

[–] affiliate@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago

[–] Lumun@lemmy.zip 3 points 2 days ago

Nice, that one got me. Happy two year Lemmyversary btw!

[–] MidsizedSedan@lemmy.world 38 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Remember to print more than 1 copy, just incase you loose the originals

[–] Agent641@lemmy.world 8 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Remember to start the print going at 4:59pm on a Friday afternoon, preferably before a long weekend

[–] Etterra@discuss.online 3 points 2 days ago (1 children)

His big is the paper tray though? If it's a boring normal printer you're just gonna blow through 1 ream. If you're lucky though it'll be a huge copier/printer and you can burn through a few thousand sheets and a whole toner cartridge.

Custom build a paper magazine

Try this fun prank next time a coworker wanders off and leaves their PC unlocked!

[CTRL] + [A]

Drop down Fill Color > Change to black

[CTRL] + [P]

[ENTER]

But won’t excel detect there’s no values and no print anything?

I think it has logic to only print pages which have values.

  1. Type “.” In A1

  2. Change the fill colour of A1 to Black

  3. [CTRL] + [A] (Selects all cells)

  4. [CTRL] + [R] (Copy’s the left most selected column across to the right most select column)

  5. [CTRL] + [D] (Copy’s the top most selected column down to the bottom most select column)

Every cell will now contain the value “.” and be set to fill colour black.

  1. Right click any of the column letters at the top > Set width > 1000. (Changes the column width to 1000 pixels. (Expanding the cells so they take up more room when printing)

  2. Right click any of the row numbers at the left hand side > Set height > 1000. (Changes the row height to 1000 pixels. (Expanding the cells so they take up more room when printing)

  3. [CTRL] + [P] (Opens up the print dialog)

  4. [ENTER] (Selects the print button to start printing)

Oh my god we finally did it, we finally went paperless as a species for long enough that someone doesn’t know what a printer is. I never thought I’d live to see the day, but it makes me very happy that we’ve finally gotten here.

[–] AfroMustache@lemmynsfw.com 10 points 2 days ago

It's entirely possible they just click the printer icon to print things. A lot of people do not use hotkeys

I've just thought of a new internet game..

I call it "Zoomer or Boomer?"

[–] Overwrite7445@lemmy.ca 3 points 2 days ago

Lol except this won't work. Print spooler will hang, job never sent to printer.

[–] Etterra@discuss.online 3 points 2 days ago

Alternatively, after placing the period, and then plant it on the tech idiot you don't like's computer. Then sit back and watch him flail to stop and try to debug it as the printer barfs out endless blank pages.

[–] Marzanna@scribe.disroot.org 2 points 2 days ago

I remember when I sent a huge pdf document to printer and my coworkers noticed that it printed a thick stack of black sheets. I immediately cancelled the printer job and took this pile of sheet to my home and used the clean side for printing.

[–] Noobnarski@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Except that the printer paper runs out very quickly, so this is pointless.

[–] sugar_in_your_tea@sh.itjust.works 7 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Easy, remove the black pages when it runs out of paper, and someone will inevitably come by to refill it and continue the fun.

[–] Brown5500@sh.itjust.works 9 points 2 days ago (1 children)

PC load letter‽ What the fuck does that mean?

[–] anguo@piefed.ca 6 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Ope, a wild interrobang has appeared!

It's a distant cousin of mine!
