If you do the math, that means that it takes 10 hotdogs to get you to one pound. It simply makes sense, from a meat-packing and butchering perspective, to sell them by the pound, not by the piece.

Weird. In my region of Canada there is 12 hotdogs in a pack of a pound (454 grams).

And the buns come in packs of 6, 8 or 12.

I solve this problem by using tortillas instead of buns for any odd dogs.
