Moderator Guidelines

Moderator Guidelines

  • Don’t be mean to users. Be gentle or neutral.
  • Most moderator actions which have a modlog message should include your username.
  • When in doubt about whether or not a user is problematic, send them a DM.
  • Don’t waste time debating/arguing with problematic users.
  • Assume the best, but don’t tolerate sealioning/just asking questions/concern trolling.
  • Ask another mod to take over cases you struggle with, if you get tired, or when things get personal.
  • Ask the other mods for advice when things get complicated.
  • Share everything you do in the mod matrix, both so several mods aren't unknowingly handling the same issues, but also so you can receive feedback on what you intend to do.
  • Don't rush mod actions. If a case doesn't need to be handled right away, consider taking a short break before getting to it. This is to say, cool down and make room for feedback.
  • Don’t perform too much moderation in the comments, except if you want a verdict to be public or to ask people to dial a convo down/stop. Single comment warnings are okay.
  • Send users concise DMs about verdicts about them, such as bans etc, except in cases where it is clear we don’t want them at all, such as obvious transphobes. No need to notify someone they haven’t been banned of course.
  • Explain to a user why their behavior is problematic and how it is distressing others rather than engage with whatever they are saying. Ask them to avoid this in the future and send them packing if they do not comply.
  • First warn users, then temp ban them, then finally perma ban them when they break the rules or act inappropriately. Skip steps if necessary.
  • Use neutral statements like “this statement can be considered transphobic” rather than “you are being transphobic”.
  • No large decisions or actions without community input (polls or meta posts f.ex.).
  • Large internal decisions (such as ousting a mod) might require a vote, needing more than 50% of the votes to pass. Also consider asking the community for feedback.
  • Remember you are a voluntary moderator. You don’t get paid. Take a break when you need one. Perhaps ask another moderator to step in if necessary.

Im a democracy lover and all for it. With a council though not a one person at the top

I would be more than happy to have those fruits of labor be redistributed, via Universal Basic Income. Then at least my basic needs getting met is not tied to working a specific job.

I’m in favor of other cool things too though like more public housing rental units and Universal Healthcare as well. Even having college be free for everyone would be a net gain for society as a whole.

I know some organizations are run co-op style, where the workers are the owners, so it’s currently something viable.

I would believe that to see broader change like that at a wider level would require some protections though.

I feel that UBI would be an easier first sell, since it doesn’t directly shake up existing systems for organizations. If you’re interested in starting a co-op of your own though there are some helpful resources out there still.

I’m kinda surprised most coffee shops are not 100% co-ops tbh. If they were, it would help the workers get around the shady practices of big companies like Starbucks that shutdown shops attempting to unionize.

You must be new here, capitalism through democratic governments has existed for centuries.

We love anarchist communism

I love Mutualism

I'm not sure I can 'love' an abstract organizational principle, but I do prefer it to other things.

I trust nothing and no one anymore but tbh, I assume this is a completely unedited shot of JP, simply because of how clearly damaged and unhinged he has publically and enthusiatically shown himself to be for literal years now.

That said, come on, that can't be real. Right?

It's edited. Original:

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 7 points 1 day ago

it is unedited, if you type Jordan Peterson Breaks Down During Interview on youtube he starts getting red and bawling in the video.

Petersen has a significant emotional disorder and seems to never be able to react appropriately. I suspect his addiction, coma and subsequent damages have really impacted his ability to think.

They're not fans of democracy though...

[–] Dojan@pawb.social 45 points 2 days ago (8 children)

They like to claim that they are. I wonder if that’s why they’re so opposed to LGBTQ people. When we say “I am X” we mean it, but when these types of “democracy lovers” say “I am/support X” it’s a facade.

Maybe they’re so used to that kind of claim being a lie, that they project that on everyone else.

For a second I misread the title and thought it said "this place needs leftist nudes".
