This is going to end with them taking away the ability to claim children as dependents.

[–] Cqrd@lemmy.dbzer0.com 132 points 1 year ago (1 children)

That's already one of their goals. That only really benefits the poors, who they believe shouldn't have any sort of benefit at all.

[–] surewhynotlem@lemmy.world 52 points 1 year ago (1 children)

They want poor people having babies. Keeps the wages down.

[–] driving_crooner@lemmy.eco.br 74 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Yes, and they want those kids to grow up uneducated and in poverty, to keep wages down for generations.

[–] Cqrd@lemmy.dbzer0.com 54 points 1 year ago

Also to serve in the military as cannon fodder

It started with that too. That's what Make America Great Again means

[–] thefartographer@lemm.ee 7 points 1 year ago

Yeah! You tell 'em!

Expecting Republicans to apply their laws with consistency or logic is like expecting them to suddenly start having a shred of empathy

[–] BigMikeInAustin@lemmy.world 91 points 1 year ago (3 children)

Let's stop using the word conceived and switch to fertilization.

Go up and ask a "christian" their birth date. When they tell you, say, "No, the date you were fertilized."

Then accuse them of being the only religion that constantly lies about their age to seem younger.

And tell them that vanity is a sin and they will go to hell for being vain.

[–] Michal@programming.dev 40 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

To be fair, date of birth is not contested. Their argument is that human life starts before birth. If you're asking for birth date, don't act confused if they respond with date of birth.

Maybe if you want to make a point, ask for "age", and then follow up with a clarifying question - is it since your fertilization or birth?

[–] Cold_Brew_Enema@lemmy.world 11 points 1 year ago (1 children)

This will break the Christian, for they are fragile

[–] Swedneck@discuss.tchncs.de 14 points 1 year ago (1 children)

meanwhile swedish church be like "abortion is a right, the bible is gods word interpreted through fallable human hands, and jesus says trans rights"

[–] Moggy@lemmy.world 11 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Sweden sounds better and better every day.

[–] Swedneck@discuss.tchncs.de 9 points 1 year ago (1 children)

don't worry, we're doing our best to ruin it.

the previous left wing government started plans to construct a new HSR mainline network to connect the majority of citizens in the country, the second the current right wing government got into power that was nuked into oblivion with vague promises of improving existing infrastructure instead (hasn't happened).

[–] Moggy@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

Don't worry. Unless I meet some very nice Swedish gal, it doesn't seem like I'd be able to move there, anyway.

[–] funkless_eck@sh.itjust.works 3 points 1 year ago

we did it patrick. we saved abortion.

[–] BigMikeInAustin@lemmy.world 35 points 1 year ago (3 children)

What do you think the ruling will be on the eggs aging? If it's from fertilization, will every live person need to update their age by a few days?

Will they get the right to vote at 18 years from fertilization?

These "children" obviously have a handicap, so they should also be get disability for their lifetime.

[–] user224@lemmy.sdf.org 15 points 1 year ago

This really brings a new meaning to "But sir, she said she was 18."

[–] a_wild_mimic_appears@lemmy.dbzer0.com 11 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Think about how hard it will be to explain the difference between chronological and biological age to the average supporter of this ruling... You will probably have to throw away and replace the eggs every 18 years, or you get more votes but lose the tax advantage.

[–] WaxedWookie@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago

That'd be "murder" though - guess you'll have to just keep the train rolling.

[–] EvolvedTurtle@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

I mean eggs are really small So it wouldn't be hard to keep a ton of them for your whole life

[–] Grass@sh.itjust.works 9 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Can you claim life insurance when the power outage kills them?

[–] BigMikeInAustin@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

That's what I'm thinking.

[–] fne8w2ah@lemmy.world 19 points 1 year ago

That's the consequence of hicks rejecting education.

[–] Imgonnatrythis@sh.itjust.works 19 points 1 year ago

Ain't all bad, they'll let you marry your sister.

[–] gmtom@lemmy.world 18 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Why does this guy look like he's in a bad American adaptation of Mr Bean?

[–] pan0wski@infosec.pub 16 points 1 year ago (1 children)

The children need to have Social Security Numbers to be claimed as dependants...

It only takes one low level functionary.

[–] just_change_it@lemmy.world 14 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

What happens when a couple separate and they have a hundred frozen embryos? How much does this impact child support rulings? how about custody?

Do these "lives" also constitute constituent counts e.g. does this now influence the voting power of a region?

[–] Shotgun_Alice@lemmy.world 11 points 1 year ago

Enroll them in private school to also get a child tax credit.

[–] BigMikeInAustin@lemmy.world 9 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Well, the Waltons family made their fortune having the federal government pay for employees, so this would be similar.

[–] CptEnder@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago

Looks like child labor's back on the menu boys!

[–] HeyJoe@lemmy.world 5 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I'm pretty sure it costs a lot to do this procedure and even more to continue storage every year. Would love to see the breakdown, but I feel like it may not be worth it?

[–] BigMikeInAustin@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

But you also don't have to pay for food or clothes.

And you could try to argue this is a form of childcare so that you can pay for it with pre-tax dollars in an FSA/HSA account.

[–] CptInsane0@lemmy.world 5 points 1 year ago

"What that means."

[–] carl_dungeon@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

I called this last week :P

[–] lntl@lemmy.ml 2 points 1 year ago

despite all of this... I still think Mississippi is my least favorite state.

[–] Scubus@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Only problem is that you will also have to pay a shitload in child support

[–] BigMikeInAustin@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

Only if the couple divorces and the courts say so.

The only cost for raising the egg kids is the cost of the freezing electric bill.

[–] John_McMurray@lemmy.world -2 points 1 year ago

yeah idk. You could probably write off the maintenance bills, but that still just moves it into untaxed income, you're probably better of giving the government their share or starting some small business that loses money and bought a new vehicle or something.
