While I half agree that having these warnings there for a glass of wine is annoying, the context here is that people will genuinely believe alcohol consumption to be just a harmless passtime, but nobody will think this about getting body parts cut off.

I don't really have anything to say about that. What's funny is that he wanted to make a Hollywood is woke culture war post, but didn't realise that it's an Indian government initiative that he's only exposed to because he pirated the movie.

Limb gets cut off, bottom of the screen "Do not try this at home"

Chariot fucking explodes "Professional driver on closed course, do not attempt"

Road runner runs through painted-on tunnel, coyote chases him: "Trains in tunnel may be closer than they appear"

[โ€“] Aqarius@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago

"The arrival of a train at La Ciotat", with sign above the screen sayin "the train is not actually here, remain seated".

Lizards would like a word with you

Or you know, only one of them is really a thing people actually can emulate in real life,.

[โ€“] SARGE@startrek.website 6 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I don't know, I think I could get a pretty dangerous gladiatorial fight between my nieces and nephews with real swords.

I doubt any of them can swing hard enough to sever a head, but fingers aren't out of the question.

[โ€“] Dasus@lemmy.world -4 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Hmm a person making two toddlers fight with real life swords actually wanting to instigate mutilation, vs.... having a drink.

I don't know about you, but I don't keep any gladius's around my house, but bottles of wine and actual silver goblets have been occasionally seen about my kitchen.

You clearly aren't the fun household, then.

I mean... nobody but grown adults should be watching that movie. Do you really think grown adults don't understand the dangers of alcohol?

[โ€“] Swedneck@discuss.tchncs.de 23 points 1 month ago

i think a LOT of adults try very hard to ignore the dangers of alcohol, and the fact that they're clearly alcoholics, and could certainly benefit from having it rubbed in their face constantly.

[โ€“] waigl@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago

On the one hand, I wasn't trying to defend those warnings, just trying to offer some perspective.

On the other, I don't just think, I know for a fact that a hell of a lot of adults out there are actively ignoring the dangers of alcohols.

Now please excuse me while I crack open a beer here.

Hey I saw that movie last night!

I didn't have high hopes and was still remarkably disappointing.

[โ€“] Spaceinv8er@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I did as well. I mean I thought it was fairly good. Not as good as the first that's for sure. I wish some of the cast was different, but it would've given everything away fairly quickly.

[โ€“] glimse@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago

I wish most of the cast was different...and the writing....and the most of the fight scenes...and the Jumanji CGI....and especially the editing. The pacing was bad but I mean specifically the shot-to-shot editing was the worst I've seen in awhile.

There were a handful of cool scenes but overall I thought it was a mess. I wanted to enjoy it but I left disappointed

I'm reasonably certain, people don't voluntarily subject themselves to violence, murder and death...
