Interesting exploit and a nice writeup of the process.

My recommendation as well.

So change the shebang to explicitly reference the venv python.

Solved problem. Python virtual environments. Or install another python version with your package manager and make sure the python script calls it in the shebang instead of a generic /usr/bin/env python.

Not accurate. If the goon squad is that close and questioning you or ordering you to do anything, you won't make it past the first sentence while they laugh and/or shoot.

I think that is a signal limitation not a flameshot one.

Yeah, Beehaw doesn't have anywhere near that MAU, but I cannot fathom how it is costing him $5k a month to run a few instances, a few of which have many less MAU.

Look at this article for installing a non ESR, latest version of Firefox on Debain. Might solve the issue.

uses a version of Ubuntu's modified kernel, with the non-free code (binary blobs) removed.[8

Why not just Debian without non-free, at that point?

Dude awesome job!

Looks like you're getting errors based on the way your client is behaving. I see a lot of errors with your username that are client side errors (HTTP 499, 206). I'd wager you're likely trying to use too large an image, your client isn't sending the complete form (attempting to chunk/partial it), something client side. Please let me know the web browsers or apps you're using to attempt to make those profile changes.

FWIW, I tested on a few different browsers within my control to edit my own profile, and did not get any errors or issues. I don't think this is a Beehaw specific issue.

I'll look into it and try to determine the reason. What browser or app are you using to do the edits with? Any logs from the attempts available? Any ad-blocking software enabled?

Ladies and gentlemen, Beeple of all creeds; I stand before you today amid a smattering litany of scripts and testing to say this:

Beehaw production (this site) will be going READ-ONLY at 10pm ET today, May 20th.

This is to finalize the data for migration and moving to the new Beehaw instance, which will be on the latest Lemmy release (0.19.9). There will still be some work to be done and quite possibly a few things not set right. But this is the next step in our migration process. https://status.beehaw.org/ will also be down and not reporting for this timeframe.

I expect the migration to be done within 24 hours; testing shows it should be less time ~ 6 hours but this timeframe gives me a bit more leeway to muck around. When the site is back up, you should easily be able to tell. You can also join the discord or matrix chat to talk amongst yourselves and periodic updates on the migration.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Trust, but always verify. You are not immune.

Haven't read through it in the entirety but found it on another site I trust. Figured it may be of use to others here.
