So the phone is the difference that makes it work?
Did you use a fake name, do you have friends on it? If I go down that path I would want to make sure I have all ingredients for it to work.

Here the government requires full privacy breach for buying a sim (because, of course, the terrorists and stuff). That with the inevitable hack that happens from time to time on telcoms it's just a matter of time of them spreading all the details the telcom have on me.
I think things will have to get worse for me to consider that option. But I am thinking about it. Still... there's no guarantee they won't block me since I won't use my real name or have any "friends" on it. I think if your account will clearly not give them money, they will block it.
What a fu234ing fu#$ cun@# ret!@# pieces of !#@ That pisses me of so much! The nerve! It happened to me too. A shitty website I never wanted to use and they behave as if they are the most important and necessary government agency.
Which... because of people's stupidity, they really are now... I don't hate them as much as I hate the people that gave them this power.
Me! I worked most of my life with 3D and Photoshop. Some stuff i did might have increased some sales, some might have been fun, but all were useless and mostly advertisement. I always wondered, if everyone working in ads died, what effect would it have on humanity? Rich people would be worse, but humanity as a whole would be better.
That's just my field. I can think of quite a few areas that are just harmful and exists mostly to make rich richer.
No recommendations, but I'm very interested in what people can suggest.
I kind of liked the 3 body series, originally Chinese. But that's science fiction. The netflix version however is a highly recommended series to never watch.
It's one of the most awesome softwares ever. I've been using it for so long that my life now relies on syncthing and if it ever stopped working I would be in a massive trouble. I think I don't rely on any other software as much.
Unlike what people say, it is also an awesome tool for backup and saved my life many times.
Thanks for the link. And this should be the new motto.
Or I came up with a different one. Lest we forget how some struggled to kill many for the profit of few.
And that includes the sacrosanct anzac. But that opinion can get me killed here.
I wish I could post this here in Australia without getting rocks from every white Australian. You can search my post history to see their reaction to questioning this.
Australia was involved in every one of those crimes. And the celebration for those meaningless murders are everywhere. Questioning this is questioning the sacrifice of Jesus.
Though by order of our north american overlords the US should not be alone in that title.
Although i use android i really, really don't want Google stuff on my pc. I use android because it's the only viable choice on mobile. But on pc I'll avoid chromium as much a i can. And having installed many roms the hard way before i saw no reason to make an exception.
Plus i don't like the browser doing something like that where i don't know what it's doing. If it was on firefox maybe i would trust it more, but even then...
I use my phone a lot lot. It's a terrible addiction. But yeah, I'm not the usual user and my needs are different.
But I disagree with "spending twice the amount of time". I've never seen that except on evil stuff that just handicaps the website on mobile for no reason other than "I'll force you to use my app through pain", when the desktop site is as good or even better than the app. And if it's one of those companies, to me it's a red flag. It's not a service I'm using, it's a company trying to abuse me as far as they can and I'll be dumb if I continue on that abusive relationship and not break up.
But ending an abusive relationship is a personal choice. But to me they are inflicting that pain on them selves.
Oh, a good example is reddit. The mobile website experience is painful for no reason other than to force me to use their shitty app to steal more from me.
And what do you know? That was a red flag and that is a company I should have tried my best to avoid for that reason and many others. And now here I am on Lemmy, happier, and not forced a shitty app down my throat.
Ah, I didn't do it that way... I think. I can't remember. I certainly remember not wanting to because I don't trust that way. Also I use firefox and I doubted it would work. I don't know.
Social websites are only worth the people using it. Here it's only facebook unfortunately. There used to be gumtree which was great, but now it's dead.
But so, do I need to use my real name? I imagine they have all sort of features to know if you are fake, and I don't know what those rules are. I imagine it depends a lot on many things, like location, operating system, etc. I use Linux and Firefox, and just from that they probably know there's a higher chance that I'm someone who hates facebook and might try to make a fake account.
I've done from maybe 3 different devices, so I don't think that's what fixes it.
They always let me make the account and use it. But on the next day, or even the same day, they block it.
Oh, but what are the proxy websites? That would already be a nice thing to know. I know I would have to log in on them, but I don't know if facebook even allows a third party website to log people on.
