The difference is what people want from their games. If you want a living open world with NPCs who react to stuff. You're going to have a bad time with Avowed. But if you don't care about that stuff. Avowed is the game for you.

Firefox forks are nothing but Firefox with a user.js file added to it. Just use Vanilla Firefox with a user.js.

Make something people want to buy. That will help more.

EDIT On the anime and manga. Quite a few Japanese companies don't or refuse to officially release stuff in the west. Most of the ones who do, get fucked with by bad localizers.
