It still happens on that one specific thread for me: I click on my original post in my profile and only see one reply, just like the pictures. However, in my profile, I see almost all of the thread, less the newest reply.

I can't reproduce what I am seeing on any other post but that one. Super weird. (Maybe we can chalk this one up to a cosmic ray permanently bit flipping something it shouldn't have.)

Relevant or not, that post was open when I updated to the new beta. I cleared my cache immediately after the update.

(Logically, there is something local I am overlooking because that thread works for you.)

Building doomsday devices.

Oh, that was one of the conservative mega posters and whatever it was, it was absolutely bigoted as fuck. If it wasn't, it absolutely was something stupid.

Conservative politicians always need someone or something different to blame for made up reasons. While the right has historically berated LGBT, they will bring one specific issue or group into focus as another "issue" becomes boring.

They identify something as problem, tell people that the root of all of their problems is that something. If I blame my issues on something else and then tell people I am their savior and the only person that can fix that problem, I could end up looking like a hero when I do absolutely nothing about it.

Also, stupid people in large groups are easy to manipulate. If one or two people start getting mad about something, the whole group will latch on to that emotion. A couple of key words or chants are of use too! If you have ever seen a trump rally, he just says a few key words to piss people off (Mexicans, immigrants, tans, libruls, etc..) and whatever else he says after that is irrelevant.

Most importantly, the targets of hate need to be vulnerable but portrayed as extremely evil.

If you browse through conservative media, notice they rarely reference anything about policy or improving the lives of people. If they do, it's directly tied to blaming others for a problem. (Left media can be just as bad, but are nowhere near the machine of bigotry that right media is.)

I could go on for a while, but you should get the idea.

Edit: Oh, if you dehumanize and generalize a group ('the jews', 'the gays', 'the whatever's), anything you say or do is not perceived internally as racism or bigotry: It's 'acting in the best interests of your country'.

While I have blocked all the conservative communities here, just read through their posts one or twice. Almost all of their articles are hate politics. Honestly, I have blocked almost all political news on Lemmy since most of it is just re-hashed emotional trigger subjects.

getting electricity at dawn is hard because solar panels don't work.

I suspect the fog might be an issue as well.

whether the world as we perceive it exists independently or not, we cannot escape this perception.

I have several jars of mushrooms stashed away that absolutely can help escape that perception and several layers of perception after that. (Philosophical on that, Seth, Edinburgh Scotland!)

After since I always season to taste.

Warmer food is usually more aromatic and because of that, the flavors are much more defined.

Salting colder food is likely to result in over-salting, if done to taste.

Are you real? Is... is anything real??

Same thread, different views:

Same behavior for me. It's the Android system notification for you as well, correct?

Edit: This is a weird thread, and might be a one-off. Maybe I have one of those users blocked and it's hiding the rest of the thread? I dunno, and I'll check. // It doesn't appear that I have any of those users blocked.

After opening my profile history, I can open a thread in my profile view. Clicking into a reply comment takes me to my comment on the post.

I cannot see the full comment thread when I view the full posts history on a post and trying to actually get to new comments is like trying finding the exit at IKEA.

Basically, I can't navigate to a thread to reply, and I had an awesome snarky comment prepared, but forgot it trying to get there.

Navigation behavior is so strange, either I have developed pre-release Alzheimer's, or Connect is bugged. (I don't discount either scenario.)

Sorry, I got jokes today.

Who the hell writes if 'null'? If it's a thing, what language would interpret a string like that?

Sinicization, sinofication, sinification, or sinonization is the process by which non-Chinese societies or groups are acculturated or assimilated into Chinese culture, particularly the language, societal norms, cultural practices, and ethnic identity of the Han Chinese—the largest ethnic group of China.

After a post is clicked, it seems that all thumbnails are forced to refresh. (Attached image shown immediately after a click)

Also, what may just be the result of a cache clear, doom scrolling seems to cause a similar lag after scrolling past +50 posts. Thumbnail loading becomes laggy, but not sure if related to the issue above.

When the lag starts, Connect will lag fairly bad for as long as a minute. I have also turned off image preload, but that had no effect.

Side bug, changing the title in the new post edit cleared my first post body.

I am writing a security paper on AI at the moment and am looking for some juicy citations.

News articles are a bad source, unfortunately. Direct references to credible studies are ideal.

Thanks in advance!

(If you couldn't tell by which community I am making this post in, I have my own bias that I would like to exploit.)

I haven't seen this particular issue since early versions of Connect.

loops@midwest.socal is one I absolutely know is not getting blocked. (I detest short form video..)

Some blocked political communities still tend to show up as well. This is is absolutely not good for my own sanity and mental health.

Weird title, sorry. Let me try and explain.

Goal: Convert simple higher level script into a low level logic gate mess. Basically, I want to build my own custom computers in Factorio with circuit networks. I can easily create any type of logic gate that I want, similar to how computers Minecraft have been built, but with more options.

It would be super nice to code in something similar to Python but have it "compile" into clusters of logic gates. Of course, functionality would be extremely limited, but that is OK and I don't need to boil the ocean.... yet...

(TBH, this sounds really close to what I know about programming FPGAs.)

I have two MacBooks that I acquired through two different startups. Both companies no longer exist and I was basically given the laptops. (They have just been sitting in my closet for a few years collecting dust, and it seems like a waste.)

Unfortunately, now that I want to use the laptops as part of a local k8s cluster (or even dedicated music production hardware), I am locked out of wiping the things because they want to connect to MDM servers that no longer exist or have admin passwords that have long since been forgotten.

Since these laptops are essentially "bricked" I have no problems opening them up and attempting hardware hacks to get around this stuff.

Both laptops are in various states of reset or wipe due to previous attempts to reset. (Funny thing, actually. I was personally responsible for locking down one of these laptops at the time they were in corporate use...)

Trash or treasure? I dunno. I am apple-dumb.

Edit: Deleting this post. It's starting to get controversial, but that's OK. Not what I planned on, but whatevers.
