I think previously I used too much heat and before the pieces could be turned they were already burned. Now with my new carbon steel pan I use lower heat and let food sit for a while and it works great!

Hello vegans!

A while ago I started a discussion to have your input on the future of this community.

I try to summarize the feedback in the following:

  • Generally, people are happy but would like to see a more specific community around anti-capitalist veganism
  • There is an overload of "news" and "studies", which might be interesting, but not always relevant in the framework of solarpunk. There could maybe be a vegan-news-like community better suited for such content.
  • More discussion and actionable information

Community motto that was proposed and I like: A place for solarpunks working toward a world without speciesism

Proposed community rules:

  • This is not a place to debate veganism
  • There is no place for (carnist) trolls
  • No promotion of commercial products
  • No speciesism
  • No promotion of violence in any way

Generally, the rules should be enforced carefully and only when a post or comment stands in clear violation.

Inviting people to help moderate: Comment on the respective comment if you would like to be a moderator. Some people already reached out to me, please also comment there, so everyone can see who the prospective moderators would be.

Let me know if you would like to change, add or remove something!

Ah haha. Should it be marked clearly that it is not mine? I assumed it's obvious

I sometimes commenr or DM creators, but I think they find it somewhat annoying.

In this video, Alice Capelle adresses some of the points why (leftist) creators use platforms like YT, instagram etc: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AuZgTAW1QvA I see the point, but I don't think they would lose viewership postig on YT and other platforms at the same time...

I don't think it's cool to put someone elses videos on another platform...

Ah yes, the body text could be misleading

Or, you know, public transport ;)

But yeah, it's true. I use carsharing if I feally need a car and public transport/biking most of the time.

The community has grown steadily and now has more than 1000 subscribers. My approach so far was very laid back and I did not remove posts or ban many people, unless some very clear cases of spam and trolling.

In recent times, more user reports have reached me, which I did not act upon. This is also due to a lack of rules.

My original intention was to have a space for discussion, also with non-vegans. I see that the community is mostly passive with posts being links to external sites with few comments, also to sites of the posters. I personally don't mind and the upvotes tend to be >80%, which is a sign that a large majority likes this kind of posts.

This is why I want to ask you:

  • Would you like to see more regulation on this community?
  • What rules should be applied?
  • What would you specifically not like to see?

I'm also open to have more moderators than just me for this community and general ideas for improving this community.

Thank you for your input! 🌱

I have a stainless steel pan which works great to fry most veggies, but I can't manage to cook tofu, tempeh and meat alternatives in it. They just stick too much, no matter how much oil and patience I try. Then I have a non-stick pan which is kinda old and it needs to be replaced.

What do you use? I think about getting a cast iron or carbon steel pan, but I don't know how well it will work and if it's worth it...
