I just think it's pretty cool that Felix, who has never really mentioned anything Linux before, chose to go with a Linux distro for the PC he put together.

The game works really well on both lutris and heroic, no issues other then gamescope and fsr refusing to work, tried nearly everything I could from using different versions of wine and proton (including ge), messing with the arguments and variables, messing with the toggles, trying different versions of gamescope, nothing worked, gamescope even straight up just crashes the game when it launches whenever it's enabled.

Edit: I've also messed around with the in game resolution, full screen, and windowed, still doesn't activate fsr either.

Anybody dabbled with this? Any fixes or is this game just incompatible with fsr on linux?

I'm on Kubuntu 24.04 if it helps? Do I have to update my distro or is it something else? Not a linux expert or anything fyi.

Anyone have recommendations for hardware to run Moonlight on a 4K TV? I want to play games on my PC, but I don't want to isolate myself in the office. I imagine a mini-PC would be more appropriate than something like a RPi, but does anyone have specific recs? I have never really bought a device like this. My laptop is not suited for the task so "use an old laptop" isn't a good rec for me really. And yes this relevant to linux since the server and client will be running linux. ;)

I solved the problem by creating the file somewhere editable and creating a link to the file under /home/curious_dolphin/.config/MangoHud, which enables me to configure MangoHud in a text file without using Goverlay. Credit to @j4k3@lemmy.world for the tip. Thanks to all who chimed in.

I'm having a hard time configuring MangoHud on Bazzite. I've perused MangoHud's GitHub and Bazzite's documentation, but I'm stuck because once I've created MangoHud.conf, I cannot edit it despite double checking the file permissions. When I attempt to save my changes, it says "Error opening file /home/curious_dolphin/.config/MangoHud/MangoHud.conf: Read-only file system." I get that I'm on an immutable distro, so this is by design, but in this case, how do I configure MangoHud? I'd like to do this without using Goverlay if possible.

Steps to reproduce the issue:

• In Bazzite, open up the file browser, browse to /home/curious_dolphin/.config/, and create the MangoHud directory.
• In the file browser, enter the new MangoHud directory and create the MangoHud config file by right clicking and selecting New Document > MangoHud.conf.
• Right click the new .conf file and select "Open With Text Editor."
• Make desired edits in the text editor.
• Hit Ctrl+S to save my changes.

Result:

"Error opening file: Read-only file system"

I've checked the file permissions. -rw-r--r--. 1 curious_dolphin curious_dolphin 9671 Feb 20 12:22 ./.config/MangoHud/MangoHud.conf.

Hi everyone!

I’m a Playstation gamer looking into moving to Linux gaming as the next Playstation might not be able to play physical games.

Here are my 2 computers:

MacBook Pro 2012 (upgraded) with Fedora 41

Surface Go 1 with Fedora 41

I bought Frostpunk on Steam after checking on Proton DB that it would normally run on the MacBook as I knew the Surface Go would probably be way too weak.

According to Proton DB it’s a Gold game.

In the end, no matter what version of Proton I use, it doesn’t launch on the MacBook. I have a black screen, some icy sounds and then it crashes at best..

I then thought, let’s give it a try on the Surface Go and it launched immediately without any tinkering using Proton experimental.

But, the game crashes when the firat cinematic starts, probably because it’s loading too many assets for the Surface.

If anyone has an idea about what to try too many get it working on the MacBook, I would be thankful.

In the meantime, I would want to know, how do you know if a game is gonna run on your machine?

I'm not a gamer, but my 13-year-old son is. All of his classmates play games on Windows, and he has tried almost everything too.

But now he has found a Linux gaming console, and we are both happy with it. He can play, and he doesn't spend all his money on a Windows gaming PC which will never work the way he wants. And what's the best? The Arch Linux and the KDE desktop on it!
