America needs to challenge the court rulings of citizens united v. fec and shelby county v. holder, protect the media, implement independent district drawing, and the single transferable vote so they don't end up having people stay home in life-changing elections because they cannot vote for their favourite candidate.

Newsom has been aggressively rounding up homeless people for months, and threatening cities who protect them.
Do not go thinking he is one of the good guys.
There's a difference between thinking he's "one of the good guys" and getting glad he's one of the few people in power standing up to trump, or at least threatening to.
People like him certainly should be held accountable for their bullshit. But bringing it up everytime someone is greatful he's standing up to fascists only helps the fascists.
He’s not “standing up to Trump” for the people, but to assert his exclusive control of the territory. He much is why he is not speaking against militarized assaults on protests, which Newsom also enjoys, but rather against Trump encroaching on the governor’s fiefdom.
In a fight between fascists, you are not required to take either side. Stop reflexively licking the boot.
Also even with his messages regarding the LA protests he barely mentioned immigrants, more that he was losing control of his state
I watched this on a few sources. One had better audio than the others, and you could hear one of the "deputies" muttering quietly to the others that they were being filmed. I wonder how much more escalated and violent this might have been if they hadn't had that realization that they were being recorded.....

It has always been this way. If you were a Hunter S. Thompson reader. You knew this way back. If you read about the real American history. You would know that the military was and has been used against Americans by terrible leaders. Just look at the Veteran Camps during the great depression. Requesting their war payments. Patton was sent in to clear them out. America has always been like this. It's never been a good place for most people. Where I grew up. The sheriffs office committed a mass murder against striking coal miners in the 1800's. This country is not a good place. Never has been.
No it hasn't "always been this way". Abuses like this are unusual and indicate the sorry state of the current regime. Dismissing it as normal is sloppy and irresponsible.
Did you not read my whole comment? Union busting has been a thing carried out by police and sheriffs all over this country. We have never had a good nation. Not until the New Deal was created. And now all of that is being wiped away.

Yes, it is. All those white men had the freedom to push that Mexican guy to the ground and handcuff him. See, that's real freedom, according to the Ten Commandments. It's why we should put the Ten Commandments in every schoolroom, so people know what they say, and how they say DEI is bad. It's right next to the Commandments about how oil belongs to America and the KJV is the only valid translation.
Im really excited for the next election when the Dems force us to vote between Newsom and whatever mentally unstable nazi the republicans find, and we lose every branch again...

Because a sizable part of the population is apparently still too fucking stupid to realize that's still a no-brainer decision to make.
Yeah, our countrymen are dipshits, but let's not undersell how complicit the Dems are by constantly choosing to run candidates that their voting base feels they have to vote for begrudgingly.
And let's not pretend like the decision isn't between unregulated capitalism, and fascism. Yes one is the better choice, but I mean Jesus Christ it's like trying to decide if you want to die by injection in 10 years or being boiled alive today, you die either way.
Hard to win elections when your voting base can't be excited about you. Hence why gop is winning, it's easier for a fascist to appeal to a dipshit than it is for a capitalist to appeal to a voter with the ability to think for themselves.
So, my question when I run into that argument is: who do you think people would rally behind?
There's always this assumption that the party has someone that they know would be super popular but they then make a conscious choice to run the most conservative person to the left of the Republican.
There are primaries. They're made up of people who can get enough support. The local parties are closer to voters, and it's much easier for people to join.
Somehow the people who consistently get elected are the sort of people they keep fielding as candidates.
So I'd love it if we had a great inspiring candidate. But literally who are they?

More like the democratic leaders are too stupid yo try actually appealing to the population. Keep victim blaming though, and licking up whatever scraps the dems throw st you from the table. Like yall shoild literally be rioting to force a change of leadership in the democratic party, and should have done so the second kamala lost. Or even before that when she was just 'chosen' to replace biden.

A sizable part of the population thinks holding down a liberal senator and tazing him is Based and are only upset that they can't take part. A sizable part thinks if the police tackle you and slap cuffs on, you must have done something to deserve it.
This isn't an issue of people being too stupid to understand what's happening. This is decades of fascist propaganda from the right and decades of liberal cop-worship politics on the left all coming due.
Liberals are not "the left". Liberals aren't even left-of-center. Liberals are conservatives who sometimes have slightly progressive social policies.
Liberals are conservatives with enough brains to understand diversity equates to larger profit margins
