Didn't this guy already leave the party already?

[–] peoplebeproblems@midwest.social 27 points 2 hours ago (1 children)

Fetterman has been and will be a traitor to the US like the rest of Maga. The fact that they keep saying he's a Democrat bothers the shit out of me.

[–] ILikeBoobies@lemmy.ca 4 points 55 minutes ago (1 children)

If the party hasn’t kicked him out then he is

[–] FinalRemix@lemmy.world 2 points 8 minutes ago

They wouldn't dare. That would be impolite. We need to reach across the aisle, and that means capitulating to everything the Republicans want. They'll tire themselves out at some point.

[–] Derpenheim@lemmy.zip 4 points 1 hour ago

Fuck you DINO traitor. Have another stroke, maybe this one will do the job you sack of shit.

[–] santa@sh.itjust.works 11 points 2 hours ago

Is there a viable D challenger to unseat him in next opportunity?

[–] Archangel1313@lemmy.ca 40 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

You can't "break ranks" with a party you don't identify with. He's MAGA. Has been for years.

[–] FinalRemix@lemmy.world 2 points 7 minutes ago

Severe brain damage really unlocked something in him.

[–] some_guy@lemmy.sdf.org 49 points 4 hours ago

Just switch parties already, you brain-damaged sack of shit.

[–] givesomefucks@lemmy.world 147 points 6 hours ago

He's not breaking ranks for this, he's been standing on the other side of the party line for a while.

It would be newsworthy if Fettermen took any stance popular with a dem voting base at this point.

[–] thericofactor@sh.itjust.works 56 points 5 hours ago (2 children)

Can't he be impeached or something based on mental issues?

[–] nondescripthandle@lemmy.dbzer0.com 29 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

Only by other members of congress who are fine with who he is. In terms of federally elected politicians, it's in fact impossible for the constituents to recall them. Some states allow you to recall state level politicians but it remains illegal to recall a federal one.

[–] FoxyFerengi@startrek.website 21 points 4 hours ago (2 children)

An example of this is George Santos, who is the only Republican to have been expelled

[–] givesomefucks@lemmy.world 7 points 2 hours ago

The reason was he grifted the grifters.

He frauduantly claimed to have $x donations already, which got him $y from the RNC.

Then he won the primary with just the $y.

If it wasn't for that, he'd still be in office.

[–] foggy@lemmy.world 23 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

Can we all take a minute to appreciate the actual comedy Andy Kaufman level genius of George Santos?

Like it wasn't that he wanted to be a comedian, but he has by far the most hilarious character in political history.

Like lying so prolifically and absurdly about everything from his career to his heritage to surviving assassination attempts... it stops being deceit and starts feeling like satire. His deadpan delivery, surreal contradictions (like being both a far-right politician and a Brazilian drag queen), and refusal to break character even after being exposed create a kind of involuntary performance art that skewers politics, media, and celebrity culture in one breath. From scamming a disabled vet’s dog fund to monetizing his downfall on Cameo....

Truly, one of the most comedic characters humanity has seen.

[–] Kirp123@lemmy.world 8 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

He just proved that anyone can make it in politics.

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 2 points 54 minutes ago

...though it will really help if you have an "R" after your name.

[–] the_q@lemmy.zip 6 points 4 hours ago

Baby, if mental issues had any bearing on whether someone could be considered unfit to govern our entire government would need to step down. The inmates run the asylum.

[–] MisterNeon@lemmy.world 68 points 6 hours ago (6 children)
[–] themeatbridge@lemmy.world 2 points 40 minutes ago

I'm in the same boat with you. I voted for him in the primary and I voted for him in the senate election. I gave money to that asshole.

But I don't regret it because I voted for what I thought was the best option at the time. I voted for a progressive candidate against a centrist Democrat. I voted for a progressive candidate over a whackjob celebrity conservative. And I'll keep doing that in every local, state, and national election, and candidates will know that's the path to winning my vote.

I didn't vote for the guy or the party, I voted for the platform, and next election I'll be voting for someone else. This piece of shit won't survive a primary challenge, and for that I'm optimistic.

[–] fluxion@lemmy.world 3 points 1 hour ago

To think he was out there acting like AOC and Bernie were his spirit guides before he got elected. No integrity.

[–] Wxfisch@lemmy.world 12 points 2 hours ago

I feel this way sometimes, then remember what the alternative was and don't feel as bad. (To save the lookup for those that don't know, Mehmet Oz was the republican candidate in 2022).

[–] floo@retrolemmy.com 50 points 5 hours ago

You shouldn’t. We were all fooled. His actions don’t reflect on you.

[–] GuyFawkes@midwest.social 24 points 5 hours ago

Just don’t do it again.

[–] floo@retrolemmy.com 10 points 5 hours ago

You shouldn’t. We were all fooled. His actions don’t reflect on you.

[–] rigatti@lemmy.world 5 points 3 hours ago

Infuriating, but like, still better than Dr. Oz..?

What a cunt. What a brain damaged cunt.

[–] cyrano@lemmy.dbzer0.com 38 points 5 hours ago (5 children)

Genuine question: what happened to this guy? I remembered when he got elected it was kind of AOC blue collar vibes. Did he change or something else?

[–] Lucky_777@lemmy.world 76 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

You can tell he massively shifted after the stroke. Brain damage and MAGA fit so well together.

[–] 9point6@lemmy.world 8 points 4 hours ago

Brain wash or brain damage are the only ways people support right wing politics unless they're fundamentally psychopathic people

[–] Botzo@lemmy.world 51 points 5 hours ago (2 children)
[–] TachyonTele@lemm.ee 9 points 3 hours ago

Interesting episode. So basically it wasn't the stroke like everyone parrots. He was always a weirdo.

Chasing after a jogger with a shotgun, and vandilizing a local business (both as major) is pretty shitty behavior.

[–] cyrano@lemmy.dbzer0.com 14 points 5 hours ago

Interesting. Thanks for sharing.

He himself said something to the effect of he could literally feel the progressive part of him leave his body after his stroke, so it seems a lot like brain damage removes your empathy or makes you a greedy war mongering asshole.

[–] givesomefucks@lemmy.world 1 points 2 hours ago

so it seems a lot like brain damage removes your empathy or makes you a greedy war mongering asshole.

It can be good tho...

It all depends on what gets damaged and what you're starting off with.

In general the bits at the front by your forehead regulate impulses, so losing that makes you more of an asshole. That's also where empathy happens.

The first parts by your spine generate those impulses, so damage there could chill someone who's already an asshole.

It doesn't take damage tho, with like 15 minutes of training anyone can predict political leanings from a normal brain scan with I er 80% accuracy.

It's not a permanent difference, the brain can change well into old age.

But as a general rule, the left uses their front brain. The right uses their hind brain.

And our brain is like a muscle. What we use often gets bigger and more active.

Only reason this is funny is because Trump backed out of the arms agreement we had with Iran in 2018…its like he created his own drama and can’t remember it cause he is so stupid.

[–] OutlierBlue@lemmy.ca 9 points 3 hours ago

That's his way of doing things. He did the same with USMCA (an agreement he himself signed in 2018) when he broke the agreement and put tariffs on Canada and Mexico.

He is completely untrustworthy. He will break any agreement and demand a better deal whenever he thinks he has the upper hand. No one should trust him to hold any deal or treaty.

[–] Ileftreddit@lemmy.world 2 points 2 hours ago

Kick that stroked out piece of shit back to PA

[–] Today@lemmy.world 7 points 4 hours ago

The establishment prefers candidates with cognitive issues. Easier to manipulate.

[–] Melatonin@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 4 hours ago

Screw Fetterman

That "break" occurred a while ago. He's a DINO at this point.

[–] Thteven@lemmy.world 7 points 5 hours ago

What an asshole
