This upsets me deeply. I had to get up in the night and trim my toenails last night because they were long enough that I could feel them against the sheets.

[–] ickplant@lemmy.world 43 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I can totally relate, I trim mine short and can’t stand when they grow out.

[–] wesker@lemmy.sdf.org 6 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

I can relate too, they scratch the back of my throat, can't stand it. Ouch, owwie.

[–] rockerface@lemmy.cafe 14 points 1 week ago

As a guy, I trim my toenails when my socks feel too small.

Or if it's summertime and I need to go outside in sandals or something. Wouldn't want to scratch anyone on accident.

[–] DarkSirrush@piefed.ca 4 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Can't relate, big toes don't have nails, and the rest grow super slowly compared to my fingernails.

[–] Droggelbecher@lemmy.world 5 points 1 week ago

Toenails grow much more slowly than fingernails for everyone.

That said, if my little toe nail grows out more than about 2mm, and the toes are sort of pressed together, it slits the neighbouring toe, and I'll take my shoes off to see my sock absolutely drenched in blood. No thank you.

Can't wear normal closed-toe shoes with wild toenails. It's autumn, and will eventually be winter. Is that lady going to keep wearing flip-flops in the cold wet rain & snow just to assert her eagle talons?

[–] Mouselemming@sh.itjust.works 4 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

Some people wear sandals year-round because they live where that's the most comfortable option unless you're going for a run. Snow never, rain seldom, cold not very.

It does seem to me that those on the left would scoop up dust and grime like shovels, hanging out past the edge of the sandal like that. I guess it would show how pampered you are. Kind of like foot-binding.

How do you wear socks and shoes with such long toe nails? I don't want someone who is unable to wear suitable shoes for touching grass.

[–] Droggelbecher@lemmy.world 14 points 1 week ago (1 children)

My honest guess it's fake nails for the sake of shit posting, and they removed them after.

[–] gray@lemmy.ml 8 points 1 week ago (1 children)

That is effort posting, not shit posting

[–] WorldsDumbestMan@lemmy.today 3 points 1 week ago

Banned! Not allowed!

This woman likely has never worn anything other then a 500+ dollar pair of heels and thinks women who wear sneakers are men.

[–] Korhaka@sopuli.xyz 4 points 1 week ago

Well, guess I'm gay for my partner now. Always wanted to try gay sex.

[–] daggermoon@lemmy.world 36 points 1 week ago

As a proud foot fetishist, No.

[–] Ghostalmedia@lemmy.world 26 points 1 week ago

This grown ass woman has to buy closed toes shoes like an 11 year old expecting a growth spurt.

[–] RedGreenBlue@lemmy.zip 25 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I can feel the future broken nail.

[–] Tilgare@lemmy.world 7 points 1 week ago

Broken, or jammed into a shoe too tightly and then it fully falls off.

[–] Pacattack57@lemmy.world 23 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I will admit that the one on the left looks significantly better than the right but in all honesty they are both GROSS 🤢. Nothing wrong with short, clean nails.

The one on the left actually freaks me out more haha

[–] shalafi@lemmy.world 9 points 1 week ago

Could not have stated my feelings more eloquently.

[–] makyo@lemmy.world 20 points 1 week ago (1 children)

This way you can hear them coming when they walk across a hard floor

[–] OldChicoAle@lemmy.world 11 points 1 week ago

Like how I can hear my dog walking around the house.

[–] Iheartcheese@lemmy.world 20 points 1 week ago
[–] BonesOfTheMoon@lemmy.world 18 points 1 week ago

This gives me the heebie jeebies.

[–] roserose56@lemmy.zip 17 points 1 week ago

I want to see her wearing normal shoes, like boots not high heels, and then we talk.

[–] RustyShackleford@lemmy.zip 17 points 1 week ago

My nails grow like Sabertooth’s from the Marvel Comics, I’ve had my big toe tear a long sheer up my bed sheets. So, I clip and sand them biweekly to ensure it can’t happen again, gotta say it’s a hassle.

[–] NigelFrobisher@aussie.zone 16 points 1 week ago

I just feel like she’s about to assassinate a double-o agent by kick-slicing his throat open so that later James Bond has to bang and then kill her.

Ffs just made me spit coffee on my shirt. And this is my favourite shirt 😭

[–] serendepity@lemmy.world 13 points 1 week ago

I’m more surprised by the bunions on her feet. Unfortunately, deformed feet like that are all too common, thanks to our collective obsession with pointed shoes.

I can imagine the pain of kicking a table leg and busting your toe and splitting the nail

[–] DaniNatrix@leminal.space 10 points 1 week ago

My heebs! They jeeb!

[–] MrMcGasion@lemmy.world 9 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Mine aren't quite that long, but are similar. And I'm a guy. I get really severe ingrown toenails if I keep mine trimmed too short, but don't have any issues as long as I keep them grown out past the skin. Yes, they're annoying, and took getting used to. I can still wear closed-toed shoes (occasionally I buy a size larger if the shape of the shoe feels tight on my nails). It all still beats the pain and occasional bloody socks from my nails cutting into my toes as they grow.

[–] BanMe@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

If you let your toenails go past a point, they're just going to stay that way, your toe adapts to the shape and it's never going to look like a young person's toe. Hell my 2nd toenail is shaped like a tent for some goddamn reason. On both feet. Whatever. The days of foot fetishists coming at me are over 😂

[–] AI_toothbrush@lemmy.zip 6 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Unlike other comments this doesnt bother me. Im not into it but its also not a minus. Kinda the same amount of positive for me as just the base well-kept feet are i guess

[–] echodot@feddit.uk 13 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I'm just imagining putting on a sock, and instantly getting a hole in it.

[–] Tar_alcaran@sh.itjust.works 12 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Or flipping your nail back, that looks like it hurts like hell

[–] madjo@feddit.nl 4 points 1 week ago

Thanks for that sudden stab of sympathy pain I felt in my toes at reading your comment.

[–] RBWells@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago

I have long toes, like the lady in the first picture, and kinda long but not wide feet and already it's hard to find shoes that fit correctly, I can't imagine how both her toes and long toenails appear to be fitting in the sandal. Maybe she has her feet pulled back for the picture, but take a step and those nails will be hanging over the edge. Also how is her second toe so much longer than the big toe? So that long toenail doesn't go past the second toe? What is going on here?

[–] WorldsDumbestMan@lemmy.today 4 points 1 week ago

Hey! I have seen this episode of Dexter's Laboratory. It's the bus ride one, with the kid that got stuck in gum?
