I can’t believe the White House got destroyed again and us Brits didn’t even do it.

[–] Darukhnarn@feddit.org 9 points 8 hours ago

The current administrations treatment of the White House is pretty symbolic for the entire presidency. I’d wager a bet, that either the redesign has to be torn down due to structural issues during the next term or never even gets built.

Next, a giant (branded!) tower over the ballroom for 2 billon monies, outsides ofc fully gold plated/gilded, the rest/current white house will look like a pair of white balls next to it.

If it isn't clear the fucker has no intention of leaving, you don't start knocking walls out of a rental.

Given the heritage of the building matetials, I'm shocked they aren't at least being carefully salvaged and reused. The wrecking ball / demolition approach is an apt metaphor for Trump as President in general.

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 5 points 8 hours ago

he wants a tacky , gaudy palace like putins, gold plating everywhere, diamonds encrusted chandeliers, and giant vases everywhere.

[–] cloudy1999@sh.itjust.works 3 points 7 hours ago

One day, maybe it'll be turned into a food pantry or international aid hq. It would be so gratifying to deny the legacy his narcissistic ass is trying to steal.

[–] Drusas@fedia.io 6 points 10 hours ago

It's probably intentional. Another petty show of power.

i can't find the words for how much i hate this selfish prick. I hate that he will be in history books. I hate that kids will have to learn about epstien and pedophiles in history class. i hate how he just slimes his way through everything and never gets held accountable.

There was a very slim sliver of a chance had he lost the election. Hopefully, he'll end up dying like Hitler.

[–] luciferofastora@feddit.org 5 points 7 hours ago

Hopefully he'll end up dying much sooner and with much less devastation. Remember that Hitler died in a bunker after his military was ruined.

I want them to learn it. I want them to learn about Sally Hemmings too. America can't get better until we shine a light on the ways it's deplorable, and has been for a long time. The myths and rampant nationalism need to die.

[–] SmackemWittadic@lemmy.world 2 points 5 hours ago

You're 100% right. The American ideology of rewarding nationalism and completely covering up all the harm it has caused is unbelievable flawed.

What should be rewarded is knowing the faults that stem from your country's history, which mistakes to not repeat, and which issues need to be resolved.

Any one of those windows would've belonged in a museum....

[–] Geobloke@aussie.zone 2 points 9 hours ago

Gonna be so much room for balls might even fit a few dicks in there

[–] 5714@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 10 hours ago (1 children)

wait this isn't fake news?

[–] Drusas@fedia.io 5 points 10 hours ago (1 children)

No. Doesn't even have plans for the ballroom written up. Just started demolishing the east wing.

[–] 5714@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 10 hours ago

In Germany they at least blamed the communists, this is amateur work

[–] fox2263@lemmy.world 1 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

I didn’t notice this before but…have they burst a pipe there? Or is it spray to prevent dust?

[–] phoenixz@lemmy.ca 2 points 8 hours ago

Likely the latter, demolishing like that causes a lot of dust that can travel fast and far. Soon you'll have the dark house, appropriately.

[–] WanderWisley@lemmy.world 6 points 13 hours ago

It will be an epic remodeling! The best remodeling! And you can’t come! 🫲🍊🫱

[–] Diplomjodler3@lemmy.world 71 points 1 day ago

How it'll continue:

How it'll end:

[–] SatansMaggotyCumFart@piefed.world 29 points 22 hours ago

Just a reminder that the construction plans haven't been approved but the GOP is saying it's a demolition not construction so it's okay.

Make America Great* Again

*only for billionaires and their ilk

[–] Strider@lemmy.world 1 points 5 hours ago* (last edited 5 hours ago) (1 children)

Yes, but even that needs healthy slaves that hold up that empire, which he is absolutely devastating.

(I mean yes one could only care for a few years but he's speerunning it)

[–] Karyoplasma@discuss.tchncs.de 1 points 4 hours ago* (last edited 4 hours ago)

There'll be plenty enough healthy slaves as long as he can convince the paupers that either a) they can ascend to the ranks of the elite through good work ethic and unwavering support or that b) their struggles are the result of doings by some random marginalized group.

[–] Sgt_choke_n_stroke@lemmy.world 1 points 12 hours ago

I would just make it another wing of the house and scrap the ballroom

[–] cmoney@lemmy.world 17 points 1 day ago (3 children)

Yeah but he's paying for it with his grift money right?

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 3 points 8 hours ago

hey hes suing the doj for 230mil, but he gets to pick on the amount.

[–] bajabound@lemmy.world 24 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

Even if ~~people~~ idiots accept that is true which I doubt, no one ever mentions the ongoing maintenance, staffing, etc... that we will be absorbing indefinitely.

[–] BanMe@lemmy.world 2 points 11 hours ago

But let's be real he probably pulled that money from child starvation funding, he's a miser, he doesn't part with money unless it's a business failure of his own doing
