The Noah's ark theme is a bit much for me but besides that he looks surprisingly cool with it

[–] finitebanjo@lemmy.world 36 points 2 months ago (3 children)

Is there an ark on there? I thought it was just a depiction of Africa.

[–] db2@lemmy.world 68 points 2 months ago (1 children)

It's gonna take a lot to drag it away from him, there's nothing that 100 men or more could ever do.

β€œCrankin’ the Toto!”

Sounds like more of a chat roulette, than a party activity.

[–] meyotch@slrpnk.net 3 points 2 months ago

I suppose it depends on what sort of parties one throws.

All the animals are in pairs of two, there's one side of the chest with clouds and the other side with sun and a single white dove like the one who brought Noah the branch to signal the water was retreating...yeah it's definitely a Noah's ark theme

[–] jaybone@lemmy.zip 15 points 2 months ago (1 children)

lol I’m pretty sure Moses was not on the ark. Was this the director’s cut?

[–] ExcessShiv@lemmy.dbzer0.com 10 points 2 months ago

Haha, yeah massive brain fart on my end

[–] ook@discuss.tchncs.de 6 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Nope, not all animals. There is just one lion with a mane...

I think they're referencing how many paintings of Noah's ark has two male lions with manes on them, and not a male and female lion.

All the animals are in pairs and they seem to be going in the same direction. There's also a single dove in the sky. It might be a depiction of the animals after the flood. It's not suuuuper obvious but I also thought of that story.

Out of all the Bible things Noah's ark sounds a lot like your run-of-the-mill fairy-tale so it's hard to see it upsetting anyone

[–] Schmoo@slrpnk.net 7 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Well, it is a story about God flooding the entire earth and sparing only one family because humanity was too sinful. A bit less Disney and a bit more brothers' Grimm.

[–] RaivoKulli@sopuli.xyz 2 points 2 months ago

I guess but it's not very graphic that minor case of major genocide

[–] phar@lemmy.ml 2 points 2 months ago (1 children)
[–] RaivoKulli@sopuli.xyz 1 points 2 months ago (1 children)

It's a make-believe genocide, so unless you think it truly happened then I'm not sure what there is to be upset about.

[–] phar@lemmy.ml 1 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Hundreds of millions of people believe it and base their voting preferences on it

[–] RaivoKulli@sopuli.xyz 0 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I'm not sure it is upsetting to those who believe it. Christians seem to think of it as an uplifting story. I feel like you'd have to believe it happened but not be Christian (or other religion that includes it) to be upset about it. But that'd be a strange combo.

[–] phar@lemmy.ml 2 points 2 months ago (1 children)

You said upsetting anyone so that is what I responded to. For the reason above that I originally responded with, its an upsetting story that trivializes genocide.

[–] RaivoKulli@sopuli.xyz 0 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Do you personally find it upsetting?

[–] phar@lemmy.ml 1 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

Yes I think trivializing genocide is upsetting and it's happening right fucking now to people in Gaza. By the people that believe this shit. So yea, I personally find it fucking upsetting.
