- Don’t be mean to users. Be gentle or neutral.
- Most moderator actions which have a modlog message should include your username.
- When in doubt about whether or not a user is problematic, send them a DM.
- Don’t waste time debating/arguing with problematic users.
- Assume the best, but don’t tolerate sealioning/just asking questions/concern trolling.
- Ask another mod to take over cases you struggle with, if you get tired, or when things get personal.
- Ask the other mods for advice when things get complicated.
- Share everything you do in the mod matrix, both so several mods aren't unknowingly handling the same issues, but also so you can receive feedback on what you intend to do.
- Don't rush mod actions. If a case doesn't need to be handled right away, consider taking a short break before getting to it. This is to say, cool down and make room for feedback.
- Don’t perform too much moderation in the comments, except if you want a verdict to be public or to ask people to dial a convo down/stop. Single comment warnings are okay.
- Send users concise DMs about verdicts about them, such as bans etc, except in cases where it is clear we don’t want them at all, such as obvious transphobes. No need to notify someone they haven’t been banned of course.
- Explain to a user why their behavior is problematic and how it is distressing others rather than engage with whatever they are saying. Ask them to avoid this in the future and send them packing if they do not comply.
- First warn users, then temp ban them, then finally perma ban them when they break the rules or act inappropriately. Skip steps if necessary.
- Use neutral statements like “this statement can be considered transphobic” rather than “you are being transphobic”.
- No large decisions or actions without community input (polls or meta posts f.ex.).
- Large internal decisions (such as ousting a mod) might require a vote, needing more than 50% of the votes to pass. Also consider asking the community for feedback.
- Remember you are a voluntary moderator. You don’t get paid. Take a break when you need one. Perhaps ask another moderator to step in if necessary.

Great work and keep at it, shooting can be a really fun way to relax and clear your head!
Some unsolicited advice though (if you want it). If you have a rod for cleaning your barrel, an old trick from basic was to get into a prone position with the rifle unloaded and insert the rod into the end of the barrel. Practice balancing a small coin on the rod while you aim and dry fire. Focus on pulling the trigger with the pad of your finger and pulling solidly enough to fire, but controlled enough to not shift the end of your barrel. It really helps with your left-right spread.
Living in Cali, best thing I got for this is VR simulations...
Hopefully that'll work for some aspects.

That's really good for only the second time of shooting!
Another poster suggested dry firing, which is good practice that can be done away from the range and helps handling the gun become second nature (better with a snap cap so you also practice handling bullets and mags too, IMO). I'd also suggest checking out Tacticool Girlfriend's YouTube video about countering flinching, which is a natural reaction and can cause grouping to drop (it happens to me really badly with full load 45ACP)

Looking good! Try practicing dry firing and see if you can catch where you're canting downward. I'd bet you're squeezing down with your ring and pinky finger on your trigger hand. I also want to suggest that most common body armor can defeat handgun rounds. The wearer isn't going to be happy about it, mind you, but it probably won't mean shit if your bad guy has invested in some plates. Have you perhaps considered a shotgun with double ought or triple ought buck? There's several meaningful advantages over a handgun to think about there.

I assumed you were talking about “the rights of trans folks”, which is usually “trans rights”. In that case, “trans” is an adjective. Like “human” in “human rights”.
If you did want it to be possessive for trans folks, similar to if you said “humans’ rights”, you’d say “trans folks’ rights”.
Because while “human” can be an adjective or a noun, “trans” is only an adjective. So you can call someone “a human”, but not “a trans”.
