I think artists with variety in their sound would be good. So I'd go: Lady Gaga David Bowie Blur Queen.

However, I'd consider the Beatles, Madonna, radiohead and muse. It's funny. These aren't all necessarily artists I would put on to listen to day to day.

Down with Webster, Hollywood Undead, Tech Nine, and Eminem.

[–] Fredselfish@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

My wife chose Eminem as well.

[–] Sunsofold@lemmings.world 5 points 1 week ago

Bach - Seems obvious

Gojira - They don't have a bad song, only more and less great.

Lorn - The electronic sound of a plea for help

And this one band I've followed for years that keeps making all kinds of experimental stuff: Various Artists

[–] AmidFuror@fedia.io 5 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Coldplay, Nickelback, Limp Bizkit, and ICP.

[–] Fredselfish@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Wow great and interesting choices especially the last ome. Firsf time meeting a fan of them.

[–] AmidFuror@fedia.io 2 points 1 week ago

I thought you might like them based on your choices.

[–] andrewta@lemmy.world 5 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Lady Gaga, Ed Sheeran, Kenny Rogers, Whitney Houston

I'm assuming I get their full archive of music.

System of a Down, Perfect Circle, Tool, Sublime.

Really hard pick, and not necessarily my top 4 bands, but they are the ones I couldn't go without for sentimental reasons.

[–] Fredselfish@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

Two of my bamds are my favorites, two aren't but same reason. If I had replce one also say Niki Mystery, but he not well known, but get great dopamine hits from his music.

[–] AceFuzzLord@lemm.ee 4 points 1 week ago

I can only think of 2 that would count that I wouldn't be cheating: They Might Be Giants and Weird Al. If it's their full discography and any other releases they've done, that's already way too much music for me to ever listen to in my lifetime with my listening habits.

I would love to cheat with something like Hatsune Miku, but that wouldn't be fair considering it's tons of people using software to create songs with that specific voice rather than a single singer/band performing.

I cannot think of anyone else I listen to with nearly as expensive of a list of music as TMBG or Weird Al, so I'd probably end up going to the next best thing: Jam Hsiao. He's got a lot of music, so I'd have a lot to choose from. Choice would be the spice of life for me.

Absolutely no clue for the 4th, so I'd probably pick a group that I like at least a couple of their songs and think they have a large amount of music: Meat Puppets.

In the end, due to their probably high song count, these would probably be my top picks right now.

[–] harrys_balzac@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Grouplove, Die Ärzte, They Might Be Giants, Babymetal.

[–] AceFuzzLord@lemm.ee 3 points 1 week ago

Definitely They Might have Giants just due to the sheer amount of music they've done over the years. Even if you don't like them, you'll probably end up finding a least one song from their vast catalog you can enjoy.

[–] sanguinepar@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Do we get access to their entire back catalogues?

Assuming so:

  • R.E.M.
  • Underworld
  • The Beatles
  • Billie Holiday

But ask me tomorrow and I'd probably have at least 3 different answers! 😁

[–] Fredselfish@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Yes everything back and new releases.

[–] sanguinepar@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

Cool. I better hope Underworld keep releasing new stuff then... 😁

[–] M137@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Man, OP is having the longest stroke ever. It's not only the title, every reply they've made is so broken. I don't understand how someone would be so unable to use basic spelling and grammar.

[–] callyral@pawb.social 2 points 1 week ago

Perhaps not a native English speaker? I'm not sure if OP edited the title, but it seems readable to me, with only a minor typo ("coulc" instead of "could"), and "artist" instead of "artists' ". Of course, "which artists would you choose?" may be a better way to phrase the question itself.

"If you where stuck on a deserted island and coulc only listen to 4 artist music, who would you choose?" is not that hard to read. I have not seem their replies, though.

Where is the music coming from?
Do i get updated releases?
From where? The internet?
Can i use that connection for other things?
Where is the power for the playback system coming from?
Can i use that power for other things?

Cmon man it clearly says you can ONLY listen. Enjoy your music while you die of exposure and thirst.

[–] PP_BOY_@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

Nine Inch Nails, Bowie, King Gizz, the Beatles.

Oughtta give me plenty to work with

[–] Fredselfish@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago (1 children)

That great list and definitely interesting listening you have.

[–] PP_BOY_@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

Thanks haha. Tried to go with artists with expansive discographies that could keep me entertained for a while

[–] PattyP@lemm.ee 4 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Ling tosite sigure, Asian Kung Fu Generation, Kendrick Lamar, and Kid Cudi.

Would love to get some electronic music represented in there but I can’t think of any one artist whose music I really love. Maybe Blue Sky Black Death or M83.

[–] Sergio@slrpnk.net 3 points 1 week ago

Ling tosite sigure

Nice. I checked them out a while back bc of TK's anime song, and they're solid. I should check them out again.

[–] JackGreenEarth@lemm.ee 3 points 1 week ago

ABBA, C418, Green Day, Queen

[–] randomcruft@lemmy.sdf.org 3 points 1 week ago

Sevendust, Yellowjackets, The Cure, Mozart this would be enough variety for me…

[–] capuccino@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago
  • Beat Crusaders
  • The Offspring
  • Streelight Manifesto
  • Jabberloop
[–] ramsgrl909@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago

La Roux, Weird Al, Queen, Billy Joel

[–] Sergio@slrpnk.net 3 points 1 week ago

....uh ... that's really all I need... I guess if you forced me to pick another artist I'd pick Underworld just so I could play Born Slippy if I ever got rescued...

[–] impudentmortal@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago

Gonna cheat and say Alan Menken since he's responsible for many of the animated songs I grew up with. Then I'd probably go with Ne-Yo, Odesza, and then Yiruma. All have different vibes so that should be enough for every occasion.

[–] Denjin@lemmings.world 3 points 1 week ago

MF DOOM, Buckethead, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, Deftones

[–] solrize@lemmy.ml 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

John, Paul, George, and Ringo.

[–] corsicanguppy@lemmy.ca 2 points 1 week ago

That is "4 artist" music, aka a quartet.

OP. Why don't you like trios, duos or soloists? Why exclude the Jackson 5 and New Kids on NSync? Is it the 'Mmm' or the 'Bop' ya hate? Why give up on Rick Astley when he's never gonna give you up?

[–] shalafi@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago

Can't believe so many people said Pink Floyd! I'm not even sure who I'd pick for #2. Floyd's really old stuff is like a different band.
