Showerthoughts

A "Showerthought" is a simple term used to describe the thoughts that pop into your head while you're doing everyday things like taking a shower, driving, or just daydreaming. The most popular seem to be lighthearted clever little truths, hidden in daily life.

Here are some examples to inspire your own showerthoughts:

Rules

  1. All posts must be showerthoughts
  2. The entire showerthought must be in the title
  3. No politics
    • If your topic is in a grey area, please phrase it to emphasize the fascinating aspects, not the dramatic aspects. You can do this by avoiding overly politicized terms such as "capitalism" and "communism". If you must make comparisons, you can say something is different without saying something is better/worse.
    • A good place for politics is c/politicaldiscussion
  4. Posts must be original/unique
  5. Adhere to Lemmy's Code of Conduct and the TOS

If you made it this far, showerthoughts is accepting new mods. This community is generally tame so its not a lot of work, but having a few more mods would help reports get addressed a little sooner.

Whats it like to be a mod? Reports just show up as messages in your Lemmy inbox, and if a different mod has already addressed the report, the message goes away and you never worry about it.

I've seen a lot of shower thoughts, but this thought is the showerest

[–] JackFrostNCola@aussie.zone 2 points 1 day ago

Right up there with 'oh, its got selenium huh?' And 'what the fuck is argan oil'

[–] JargonWagon@lemmy.world 6 points 3 days ago

I was thinking the same thing, but with the word *showeriest

[–] idunnololz@lemmy.world 13 points 3 days ago (1 children)

What about "welp, time to poop"?

And then forget in 5 minutes cause I was in the shower.

[–] blackluster117@sh.itjust.works 100 points 4 days ago (2 children)

Then remember immediately the next time you get in the shower. Vicious cycle.

Or just rinse, save some shampoo for tomorrow.

Diluted shampoo

[–] valkyre09@lemmy.world 16 points 4 days ago (1 children)

I do this with tooth paste.

I’ve started buying two tubes at a time because I can’t be trusted

[–] xorollo@leminal.space 11 points 4 days ago

My husband buys the toothpaste. When mine runs out I take his so that he will always know if the closet stock is empty. If I took one from the closet, and it was the last one then we might be left without. When we get low, it's a game where we are constantly stealing the tube back and forth . I like to think this game helps him remember to get some more.

This is why I set the bottle in the bathroom sink after having this thought. Its hard to ignore something so out of place and in the way

Toss it over the curtain so that it clatters to a weird spot that is hard to miss.

[–] the_tab_key@lemmy.world 3 points 3 days ago

This is what I do. Works well.

I've had the same bottle of shampoo since 2016. It's outlasted my hair.

That could have been part of the problem, yeah

looks at 40lb bag engages spatial reasoning how many cups are left in this bag..... fuck 1 day.... takes 2 days to get ship.....

Well gal, chicken it is....

[–] GaMEChld@lemmy.world 5 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Auto ship from Chewy solved this for me heheh

[–] rumba@lemmy.zip 6 points 3 days ago (1 children)

All her food comes from chewy and I've tried this.

You know we should try auto order.

Orders food

Comes in just fine, But we've misguessed on the reorder date.

We'll just single order a second bag so that we've got one in stock. It's kind of ridiculous to have 68 lb of dog food around but it won't go bad that soon.

Single bag comes in, 3 days later reorder bag comes in...

Dog: btw I hate this dog food and I'm not eating it anymore

O.O

Add some crumbles in: nope

Add some wet food in: nope

Gravy, chicken, start doing food theater.

Dog: The dry food is now poison

In the middle of trying to solve this we get another reorder.

Chewy lets us cancel and donate that bag to the local animal shelter.

We change over from a duck version to a salmon version, dogs been eating it fine now for 2 years.

I love chewy to death but between our own incompetence and our dogs fickle eating habits...

I've started baking chicken thighs from Costco. $1.79 a pound, They are easy to debone and a $20 package fills four tall deli containers. The dry food is now a condiment for teeth health. And if it runs out she can Make it just fine on meat for a couple of days.

[–] GaMEChld@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago

Haha, fair enough, I never had a picky eater yet!

[–] whoisearth@lemmy.ca 4 points 3 days ago

Cries in ADHD. I do this all the time with my cats lol

[–] Bwaz@lemmy.world 14 points 3 days ago

"These shower floor tiles seem slippery"

[–] RampantParanoia2365@lemmy.world 31 points 4 days ago

Then you put the extra bottle you bought away, and realize you really should have checked the cabinet, and now you have 3.

[–] GeekyOnion@lemmy.world 41 points 4 days ago (2 children)

This, right here, is the highest quality "Shower Thought" I've ever encountered. You win!

Took me about 5 seconds to get this.

So....not a LONG time, but I'm still ashamed it wasn't instant.

[–] kemsat@lemmy.world 22 points 3 days ago (8 children)

Thank you for making laugh in the middle of my life loathing rant 😂

This, but every evening a week straight until the bottle is actually empty and then I walk around with greasy hair until I get weird looks from people at the mall, at which point I remember to buy it.

[–] Nangijala 2 points 3 days ago (14 children)

It is either that or you go buy shampoo, then put it somewhere in the house where you forget all about it and go buy another and forget all about that one too and then you run out of shampoo and are like "oh fuck, I need to buy shampoo" and you manage to remember and come home with a third bottle and then the others start popping up in weird places over the following days.

I am at the end of one such misadventure. I am almost finished with bottle number two and bottle number three disappeared from the kitchen for weeks and reappeared recently in my couch and I put it in the bedroom so I am reminded of it's existence everyday now. Eventually it will find its way to the bathroom.

Everytime I'm at the store and I pass the shampoo aisle I have to remind myself that Mr couch shampoo is still very much full and very much on its way to the bathroom.

This is why I subscribe

[–] gashead76@lemmy.world 14 points 4 days ago

Shower thoughts in the shower? Hmm...

[–] SethranKada@lemmy.ca 8 points 4 days ago (1 children)

And how many bottles are still in your closet? Because that's always the first thing you should check after thinking that particular thought.
