I was banned from an amusement park because, many years ago. They sold drinks, in cups, that were shaped like bongs. My friend and I were sitting in a small pavilion area, that was in a rather remote corner of the park. We were smoking cigarettes, which was fine where we were, and my friend and I were talking about turning the cup into a bong. At one point he stuck his face on the opening like you would a bong. Some people, in the next pavilion over, were staring at us, then left. We were punk kids, like the music, so we were kinda used to random people staring at us, and we thought nothing of it.

About 20 minutes pass and a cop walks up to us. He asks us to turn over our paraphernalia, and leave the park, and he wont arrest us. We give him a WTF look, and say what paraphernalia? He says people reported seeing us smoking from a large, purple, water pipe. Friend says "you mean like this?" and holds up the cup. He looks at it for a good 10 seconds, and then says yeah that looks like a bong, I can see why they may have thought that. He then told us about how he was a punk, pulled up his sleeves to reveal GBH, and Casualties, tattoos. We commented on how he isn't a punk, now that he is a cop, those things are mutually exclusive. Short conversation on punk ethics ensues. He then says sorry for bothering us, and walks away. About 10 minutes later we are walking back into the main area of the park when we see punk cop walking with a man and starts flagging us down. The man is the park manager, and even though the cop straight up said it was a cup THEY SOLD, he wanted us kicked out, and trespassed. Cop asked us if we were going to leave now that we are asked, and we said yes, and left. However he stopped us at the gate demanding the cop get our IDs to put on file, cop tells him we left when asked, he can't actually write us up as a trespass if we leave upon request, unless we come back. So we started walking back to our car, and as we are getting up to it, the manager runs, literally runs, up to us and takes pictures of us, and our car.

Thing is, our friend circle included the daughter of the owner of the park. So we called her and told her what happened. Ban pulled, though that same manager was still there the next time we went, so he wasn't fired. We also refer to that guy as punk cop to this day.

Wow. Some people can’t mind their business! Imagine being upset by the way a couple of kids are breathing on a sunny day…

I got banned from hinge/tinder for the crime of... being trans.

turns out if enough terfs report your profile as "misrepresenting your identity" you'll just get banned, no questions asked.

OMG really?! 😔 That is the pits. I’m so sorry that happened to you!

I'm banned from a local martial arts dojo. The soke always told the same stories about his teachers and also has a rule that he won't teach anyone with a criminal record.

I did some digging on one of his teachers and found that he killed someone in cold blood and took a plea that threw his teacher under the bus. His teacher was convicted of murder and the soke's teacher was convicted of manslaughter for his role.

I called him out for being a hypocrite because he won't teach criminals, but has no problem being a student of a criminal.

He sent me an email telling me that I was no longer welcome in his class.

Be careful provoking the Fire Nation, brother…

I got banned from Tinder. Possibly because I refused to give my real email and just kept entering temp mail addresses, or possibly due to a photo I included that was taken from behind at an outdoor (public) body paint event.

Dang. That’s tough. At least you still have Grindr and ChristianMingle, in case you’re into gas station bathrooms or gay dudes.

I was banned from an arcade because I had discovered that if you placed a strong enough magnet near the coin door of most of the cabinets you could pull together the leafs of the service switch and just get free games. Was a wee kid so they just never allowed me to enter again. But boy wasn't that the start of a hobby. Now i Reverse engineer things for fun.

😂 Yeah, I ran into a guy who counts cards yesterday. He works for a small casino near me, but apparently he started out in Vegas as a dealer and then got banned at other casinos. 🤷🏻‍♂️ Interesting conversation. I want more!

I'm banned from redd... oh you said fun.

what's yet crime? using 1 of a moderator's 11 million Manchurian Candidate phrases? or having an account older than 2 years?

👏👏👏😂

I am banned from an hospital and a country.

No, I was not an unruly patient, but instead called out their bullshit as a healthcare provider working with them. And reported them. Which lead to them banning me. Which funny enough is illegal here as well.

And I am banned from entering Turkey. Turkish airlines nearly killed me during a flight by having some sharp pieces in my food. Had a gastric bleed from it,including a hospital stay in a foreign country. Well. My travel insurance sued them and thinks got ugly. In parallel the political party I then was a somewhat active member of back then (as in "running for state parliament"-levels) was getting in arguments with Erdogan. So one day I received a letter by my foreign department that I specifically should not enter Turkey or I might see a Turkish prison from the inside.

Oh wow!! What a great answer. Thank you!

I'm banned from Hollister.

As a teen, my sister & I were trying on clothes, and we realized that it was nearly the alloted time when our mom was going to pick us up. If we were late.... there would be hell to pay and we wouldn't to be able to go out for a while. So I scrambled out of the clothes, and, in a rush to not drop any of the stuff I was trying on, I stuffed it all into a pair of pants and draped it over the hanger for clothes you don't plan to purchase outside of the dressing room. We thanked the attendant and headed for the exit.

Suddenly, she was following us. As we exited the store, she yelled from the entrance "You are banned from ever setting foot in here again!! I will call security if I ever see you!!!" pointing at me. I was already in a rush, so I was confused af.

The only thing I can think I did was putting clothes in the pants..? Did she think it was a shoplifting attempt..? But I had legt it behind..? I dunno.

Anyhow, I've literally never purchased anything from there before or after. I hung with goth kids. I was just there because my sister liked it. Lol Plus, it was so ridiculously dark in there, you could barely see anything anyhow. No desire to shoplift their tiny, low-quality clothes. Ever.

It closed down years ago. I still remember that angry woman & how stunningly confused I was lol

EDIT: oh..... the title says "fun places"..... oops.

Well... to make up for wasting people's time, I also got banned from our local county fair because my sister's idiot friends were throwing coins at people from one of rides that went up in the air.

😂 both these answers surprised me

I banned myself from casinos where I live and in all neighbouring countries because the house always wins and there should be no way I can give them money. (The gambling regulators allow you to ban yourself) I've never been to a casino I just know I can't be trusted.

[–] PalimpsestNavigator@midwest.social 1 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

I had no idea you could do that! While I have only gambled twice (with about $10 each time), I’ve never felt the bug. It takes a naturally fun person to fall into gambling; my sympathies, bud. Good on you for protecting yourself (I’ve had to recuse myself from alcohol in the past).

[–] vorpuni@jlai.lu 2 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

I don’t know if I am fun but filling forms online sure beats losing years worth of income to my own stupidity if I were to be intoxicated (which I do not do anymore but you never know…).

A man with a plan. Whatever it takes, right? Good job

Reddit. First strike was an anti religion comment. Got back after my 3 days and the first thread I saw was something in one of the popular subs where everyone was shitting on religion. Second strike was cheering on the bear in a clip where a bear turned on a circus trainer for "wishing harm". Third and final strike was for shitting on the manosphere for, and I quote, "hatred towards vulnerable and marginalized groups."

All three came in the last two or three years, after being on the platform for more than a decade and never being suspended before that.

Reddit was built for people like us, but what it’s become is something else entirely.

[–] PalimpsestNavigator@midwest.social 1 points 32 minutes ago

True. I’ve seen so many shifts on that site. Chumps roll in like the tide.
