ironically, the helm is the one piece of kit she isn’t wearing.

It's well worth a watch if you're into film history.

[–] victorz@lemmy.world 3 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I'm kind of not, but I'm kind of into film and kind of into history in general, so it might be cool. 😁

[–] kalpol@lemmy.ca 2 points 2 months ago

It's pretty cool.

While interesting as an important piece of early movie history, the movie itself isn't really anything great. The visuals are interesting, but the story is really badly structured and told.

Eh, I enjoyed it.

I also enjoyed the bizarre version that came out in the 80s.

I bet it is. There's a certain charm to older stuff though, IMO. I bet I won't come out empty-handed in the end. 😁

That urge to drink vs the problems of going to the bathroom in that suit!

You can turn the blower on and off separately from the heating element in a hairdryer

Well you see we make a broad sweeping assumption that makes us feel better about approaching the point our generation falls off.

I'm surprised a 1927 handheld fan is so compact and modern looking. I wonder if it was cutting edge.

It was must pre-enshitification, I think, they later used plastic to make them look bigger to sell them with larger margins.

A lot of products got needlessly bigger bcs customers thought they were being "more".

[–] Species8472@discuss.tchncs.de 2 points 2 months ago

What material was used for the suit? Too soon for any sort of plastic, aluminium would have been very expensive.
